UCs (instate)

UCSC, UCR, UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, UCB (I'm applying to other schools but I'm trying to use this to find out which UCs I should apply to)
Major: Biochem or Comp Sci (basically if they don't have biochem i will apply as comp sci like Berkeley)
UC GPA: 4.0

Couldn't take many APs, earliest I could take was junior year
AP Bio - A - 5
AP Phys - A - 4
AP CS (AB) - A - 5

Senior: H Span 4, AP Gov, Contemp Lit, AP Enviro, AP Chem, (CSUF on campus) Calc, Band

SAT: taking again in nov
SAT IIs: Bio 760, Math II 750, Phys 740 (all same day so they progressively got less good)
ACT: Composite 30 (first try)(retake oct)

School Extracurriculars
1) YAT Club (member 4 yr)
2) Math Olympiad Club (11th)
3) Sci Olympiad (11th) (less of a club but a school team) (30 students total)

3) Music Letter
4) 1 member of a 4 man team at the southern california comp sci competition. our team won first place.
5) AP scholar

Work experience
1) internship for 10th and 11th grade summer, where I did programming work.

I'll be making tiny updates as Nov comes to a close.

If your SATs come in at around 2100+, you are Match at all the schools.

P.S. the UCs only take the top two SAT II scores.

As far as majors, best biochem schools (in order) are UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, UCLA, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz.

As far as majors, best computer science schools (in order) are UC Irvine, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, and UCLA.

Note: I'm giving best schools at undergraduate level, not graduate.

I forgot to add that for leadership I was also a part of student forum as a TA Representative during Junior Year as well as Band Staff. Also as a side note, I took the 3rd SATII for another school that wanted 3 for some random reason. Also I might apply as a Forensics major to some schools because of pathology being a very tempting career choice. Also alternatively to 2100+ on SAT would a 32+ be fine? I feel strongly about the ACT coming up. A final question, would UCs mind seeing 2 SATs and 1 ACT?

You have a slightly weak GPA, strong SAT scores, average ECs, and strong honors/awards.

Berkeley/UCLA: slight reach
UCSD: match
UCSB/UCI: safe match
UCR/UCSC: safety

I'm not sure whether any of the UCs have a forensics major for undergrads.

Yes.

That's fine.

Don't worry too much....Kyle's stats seem to be the right ones, especially since your GPA isn't as high as others.

I have a general UC question. How important is class rank?
btw I'm posting here because I have a few similar stats, and I'm pretty sure I was on your comp sci team. Lolz

bump bump!

Many of the UCs say they don't consider class rank (I believe Santa Cruz says they do). However, they do look at class rank in evaluating you for ELC. Berkeley says it doesn't look at either your rank or ELC status; they can tell by the strength of the application whether you'd be in the top x% (and they seem to be right -- 99% of the students were in the top 10% of their graduating classes).

I tihnk UCR has the best forensic program of the UCs, yes that's right UCR.

I'm also wondering about my chances, at University of Washington and JHU. I'm assuming JHU would be a high reach.
(sorry for so many posts in the same thread, it won't let me edit)

kyledavid's odds look right on to me.

Can anyone help me by telling my chances at: UCLA, UCB & UCSD:
My ACT score is 30
I have given SAT II in history & Math - last wek. Waiting for results
My UC GPA is 4.23
Cumulative GPA since 8th grade is 4.13
Class Rank is 11/700
I have got only one B since 8th grade.
Has taken AP history = 4; AP US History = 4; AP English = 5
I have taken leadership classes in high school.
Done volunteer work in local hospital.
Has Black Belt in Karate.
I am a local California resident living in Southern alifornia.
I want to apply for Biology major.
Anything can I do to improve my chances?
Would appreciate any feedback

Hi, one final question. I put 200+ for volunteering hours due to the trend I am currently accumulating them since I have quite a bit more time, I'm using it for volunteer work. How significantly would my chances change with 175-200 hours of volunteer work? Which is what I believe I have now, and with the intent to work until the end of high school.

Not a whole lot, but probably more at the mid- or low-tier UCs. It would change somewhat, yes, but it's not a super-important part of your app.
