I hear the UC's are number-based. And I'm ELC, which has 60% admit rate into Berkeley. But I'm really nervous about my private colleges.

My uneducated but well-meaning opinion - All of those 800s are damn impressive, as is your GPA. I think you are a very good match for UCLA and USB (I'd be shocked if you weren't accepted to both) and UCSD you are in for sure! As far as Dartmouth, Yale, Stanford and Harvard are concerned, they are either Ivies or have Ivy status, so you can't say for sure either way, but I don't think you're crazy to apply to them. I think you've got a good shot at being accepted to at least one.

sorry, but i think this guy might be lying. first, why did he only take calc bc and not ab.? second, for his "Current AP courseload: Gov/pol, Literature, Spanish (eek), and Statistics" he put an "eek" after spanish. probably meaning that he supposes it will be a hard class, but somehow he managed to get on 800 sat2 spanish. seems a little weird? lastly, for someone with a 2390 and triple 800s, maybe he could have more than 3 awards?

what's your rank?
If all your info is accurate (2390.....!) then you should get into all except harvard, cuz theyre messed up like that... but then again you're doing stanford early decision then you wouldnt have the choice of going to harvard anyway!

I don't think he's lying. You can take Calc BC without taking AB. However, a perfect SAT score is not everything. Most people applying to Ivy League schools are top 10% of the class, high SAT, extremely rigorous courseload (7 AP's isn't enough), and an insane amount of EC activities and awards. If you are in the top 5 of your class I say you have a good chance at even the Ivies, but if you aren't, you may have trouble.

um, well, my school offers a choice of calc a/b and calc b/c. I had the calculus b/c teacher for pre-calc, so she recommended the latter. and i said "eek" after spanish because i am already freaking out about the AP test. sigh My teacher is too easy on us, so none of us are really prepared...

Most people don't take Calc AB before Calc BC, as far as I know

By the way, the Spanish AP isn't bad at all, it's really just reading comprehension, verbal q/a, and an essay. If you're smart about it, you'll do fine--it doesn't take much prep to do well though, if you've been taking Spanish for a few years..
