UCs: SAT Help?

First SAT: 1460 Composite, 17 Essay
Second SAT: 1440 Composite, 21 Essay
I know that the UCs will use the highest COMPOSITE score for my SAT, but I reported both scores just like they recommended me to do. However, does that mean that they will not acknowledge my higher score on the second essay? I know that the second composite score is lower, but I still want them to see that improvement in the essay category.

Does anyone know if they use the highest composite score AND the highest essay score together?
Any help would be appreciated in advance. Cheers

The UC’s will use the highest total score from a single sitting. Although the essay is required for the UC’s, they put more emphasis on the SAT Math and EBRW sections so they will consider your 1460. They do not superscore different parts of the SAT. Sending both does show you are a solid writer with your essay score.
