What private schools could the UCs be compared with? For example,
Berkeley=Stanford
UCLA=?
Davis=?
Irvine=?
UCSD=?
UCSB=?
etc.

Ucla = Usc

Berkeley=Stanford
Ucla = Usc

No and no. Stanford > Cal. UCLA > USC

Are you speaking in terms of schools surroundings, size, attitude, selectivity, difficulty...?

UCLA = USC
Santa Barbara = Pepperdine
Irvine = ?
Davis = ?

BTW: Stanford > Berkeley.

If you are talking about graduate school, then I'd agree that Stanford = Berkeley, but for undergraduate program, Stanford is overall UNCOMPARABLY superior to Berkeley. I'd say in terms of prestige and name value UC Berkeley is more comparable to Emory or Georgetown.

I mean like academics and overall prestige.

Well, I don't know if I'd go quite that far. In terms of academics and prestige, I am comfortable in comparing Berkeley undergrad to, say, Cornell. I would say that UCLA is probably comparable to Emory or Georgetown.

Why's Stanford better for undergrad, specifically?

Well, academically speaking, it's nice to to go a school where you don't have to worry about impaction, such that you can major in anything you want, and change your major anytime you want.

Berkeley=Carnegie Mellon
UCLA=USC
Davis= Boston University
Irvine= Tulane
UCSD= Case Western
UCSB= Pepperdine
