UC's Visual and Performing Arts Requirement

Hey, I was filling in the application today and I ran into a bit of an issue.

While my high school only requires 1 semester of a art/music class, the UC’s require a full year of them. I’m already in the middle of my 1st semester senior year, I’m taking a full load of APs and my only art/music class next semester. I don’t really see a reasonable way to fit in an extra art/music class.

However, I have been highly involved in theater, in both my high school and in out of school performances. I’ve performed in a professional theater before.

I’ve also played the drums for the last 6 years.

Considering this, would the UC’s consider waiving that pesky second semester of art/music requirement? If so, who should I talk to?

I’ve read this is among the biggest stumbling blocks for OOS applicants. In state high schools seem to go through great pains to make sure they comply. They use this;

http://www.ucop.edu/a-gGuide/ag/a-g/vpa.html

Will be interesting to see if OOS high schools can have applicants waived, but in state cannot.

I think I’ve read community colleges here can meet the requirement in one semester, but I’m not sure.

Will they waive it? No. Drums won’t count bcos the VAPA requires an academic, theoretical component.

But you can also become eligible by testing alone. For OOS, it takes an average of 710 (if I recall) on all five tests.
