UCSB Acceptance

Maybe that just means their office will be closed?

Admission Question?

does your name matter? or why are people posting the initial letter of their name?

^ They are trying to find some rhyme and reason to the stagnation of admissions decisions, but I don’t think there is any out right reasoning to the system.

sorry for taking so long I left for work. 3.0 UC transferable gpa. I was a poly Sci major.

And for the person who asked heres what it says about appeals.

We regret that we are unable to offer admission to all qualified applicants. UCSB does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every application has gone through extensive reviews. (See Selection Criteria for details.) For an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new information that was not present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger overall than had been earlier evidenced.
…

Submitting an Appeal for Fall Quarter 2011
Send us a letter requesting that we reconsider your application. The letter must be written by the applicant.
Appeals received after the deadline may not be considered. Email or fax submissions will not be reviewed.
Postmark Deadline:
Freshman applicants: April 15, 2011
Transfer applicants: May 20, 2011

The letter must state the applicant’s reasons for appealing the initial decision. The letter should not simply repeat information that had already been presented in the application.

If the basis for the appeal is a changed grade or an incorrectly reported test score, provide documentation (e.g., a transcript or a revised score report) in the same envelope as your letter of appeal.

Include copies of all high school and college transcripts (recommended).

Letters of recommendation are not required. If letters are included, the limit is two.

thats the main bit at least.

@isus39 that too =[ Guessing early April for Davis
@KidKrasher My last name is starts with D and people will last names that start after D are getting their decisions up. So I guess it shows SB isn’t doing it in alphabetical batches.

^Last name. It just shows that the decisions are random (we think) and not alphabetical (or based on when you turned in the app, whether you tagged or not, GPA, etc.)…

Admitted as an English major with a 3.3 gpa! Though I think I might be changing it to Biology, don’t know for sure yet. Does anyone know if UCSB has a strict 2 year policy for transfers?

[Letters & Science Academic Advising :: 200 Unit Rule](http://www.advising.ltsc.ucsb.edu/maxunits/)

Hereeeeee it is!

it has nothing to do with your last name…dumbest theory i have ever heard. ITS RANDOM FOR UCSB.

Admitted
TAG
4.0, Comparative Literature major, prereqs complete

and my last name starts with an L.

Still no response for my TAG

I applied as an English Major with a 3.4 GPA. I’d be third generation in my family to attend UCSB if I do choose it.

Does anyone know if UCSB does decisions in batches or just as they get done with them? I dont want to be checking everyday if it is just a few batches like UCSD.

from looking at last years posts i think they come out with some responses for the majority of each week day

Has anyone been rejected? It seems like they are only releasing acceptances cause I haven’t seen any rejections. I applied with TAG but I haven’t heard anything yet. They did not approve my TAG or deny it, they said they had to “further review” my application and I never heard back, so I’m assuming I didn’t make TAG. Might not get in, had a 3.1 GPA when I applied which I know is lower then their required 3.2 but it’s up around a 3.3 now after the Fall grades.

Admitted!
GPA: 3.4
TAG: yes
IGETC: yes
Major: Anthropology

People have been denied. Just check a few pages back.

Thanks that’s reassuring. When I applied in high school I got my one acceptance letter in March and then April 1st I got every single rejection letter in the mailbox, lol (I’m kind of old, back when I was in high school they snail mailed everything).

Not sure if there was a problem with the website or they actually just released this info, but I’m admitted!

GPA: 3.11 (my UC GPA is higher, around 3.3, but I had to take a non transferable math course that was 5 units that I got a “C” in that brings it down to 3.11 on my CC transcript. UC doesn’t take that into consideration when they calculate my GPA, which is how I got around the 3.2 thing.)

So when you last checked, did it say your decision was still pending or is this first time you’re seeing a status posted?

Last time I checked it said a decision was still pending.
