UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

Chance me please!
Got into Davis btw
ACT: 28 (29 superscore with a 35 in English)
UW UC GPA: 4.0
W UC GPA: 4.29 capped and around 4.5-4.6 uncapped (not 100% sure)
Pretty solid essays and ECs
APs: AP Calc AB this year, AP Psychology last year (got a 4 on the exam), and nearly all honors

WHatā€™d u apply for @collegekidzrule ?

@ironweasal sociology

Hey @Gumbymom. Do know whether the acceptance includes information concerning acceptance into the particular college program applied to? If not, when do you find out if you are accepted into the specific program applied to?Thanks.

@winjammer: Once the acceptance is posted on the student portal, it should state which major you have been accepted into at UCSB.

I applied to ucsb because it has been my dream school forEVER! but I know itā€™s a long shot with a 3.89 uc gpa and 1170 sat. are there ever rare occasions when theyā€™ll take lower stats with lots of APā€™s and ECā€™s and strong personal statements? or is this school usually like a high stat, high everything, then you get in

@nm4017: UCSB considers 50% academics and 50% ECā€™s and essays, so it is possible if you have strong essays, ECā€™s, leadership and community service.

Donā€™t know if this will reassure anyone but I was accepted as a Biology Major in 2017 and now attend UCSB. Here were my stats:
1380/1600 (680 math, 700 English)
4.25 GPA
Lots of ECā€™s and a little volunteering.
Canā€™t remember AP scores though.
They will take people with lower scores, I believe they look closely at your ECā€™s and essays.
Hope this helps.

@nm4017 they do, I was accepted at the chancellors reception Saturday and I have very similar stats to you I thought it was a longshot as well but it was my dream school. I wish you the best of luck! GPA: 3.87 sat: 1180 act: 26

@Petitepotato do you know of anyone at UCSB that got accepted for bio with a lower gpa? (Around 4.0-4.1)

I am counting on a holistic admissions processā€¦

@Tc2018 You got in early with those stats?

@jj1999 yes Iā€™m even more surprised than you are. Glad they take into account essays and ecs

ooof im pretty scared. I didnā€™t get any invitation nor email saying decisions will be coming out on the 20th, and I have much higher stats, but less EC. Essays were good IMO.

How come on their chancellor reception PDF page, it states that:

ā€œDoes this mean I have been admitted? Who was invited to the reception?ā€

"Your invitation does NOT indicate that you have been admitted. However, invitations were only
sent to our highest achieving applicants in select regions. "

@orionary my guess is I think they want to leave it as a surprise for the students.

UCSB is my top choice and has been since fifth gradeā€¦ really freaking out about getting rejected! I applied under undeclared-college of letters and sciences. Does anyone know if itā€™s harder to get into an undeclared major or easier?
I got a 31 composite act score, 35 on the English portion. 4.2 gpa and lots of APs and a fairly average amount of ECs with good essays (imo).

Also if one of your parents is an alum, does that sway their admissions decision at all?

@collegeeee2022 iā€™m pretty sure UCs do not consider legacy status in the admission process.

I got waitlisted at uc santa cruzā€¦ does that mean my chances are basically out?
