Is it really difficult to get into the undeclared college of Letters and Science for SB?b
The admissions officer we met at UCSB told us that they take into account GPA/test scores 50% + ECs/leadership/insight 50%. And that each UC is holistic in its approach, but the %s differ.
@chicalmom Thank you!
Anything under a 4.1 weighted is a little low. Same with anything under a 28 ACT. Any of the science majors at UCSB are extremely competitive to get into. Especially after the admissions cycle in 2017. It’s only going to get more difficult to get into each year.
When is UCSB projected to come out this year?
@10s4life they sent an email last week saying on the 20th which is Tuesday at 5 pm pacific
@aweinst Thanks! My sister is an applicant and it’s been awhile since I got into UCSB and forgot the approx timeline.
got waitlisted davis and ucsd… feelin a bit worried.
what do yall think my chances are for CS with a 4.19 and a 35ACT?
Can someone chance me for Econmics and Accounting?

Also, I technically applied as Engineering first major but I no longer want to purse that major. My second major is economics and accounting and I’m hoping to get in with that one. How will this affect my admissions chances?
Thank you in advance.
I will say I do respect how transparent UCSB has been concerning their decision dates. They have it right there after log in and that really has helped alleviate this anxiety that has been associated with other UC’s with this guessing game-----like UCI is doing right now…ugggggh. Sending everyone well wishes on Tuesday!
@aweinst @10s4life actually it’s at 3pm!
“Mark your calendars! UC Santa Barbara admission decisions will be posted on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. PST on the Application Status portal.”
@winter04 yes you are correct sorry Hahha I’m central time I tweaked
Do you guys think it is possible to get into ME or EE with Act of 26 and UC GPA of 4.2?
I’m soooo scared. But isn’t UCSB a little more holistic/easier than ucsd? I thought I read that somewhere
Does anybody know how competitive is to get into UCSB as Bio major? Acceptance rate?
I only have UCI and UCSB left. Got waitlisted for SLO and UCD. Rejected from UCLA(expected) and expecting a rejection from UCB. Got into UCSC though, so I’m not totally screwed. Really nervous and scared right now :((
Unweighted gpa - 3.89
Weighted + capped UC gpa - 4.19
Sat - 1380
@MrAirbender I feel like you’d get in with those stats because that fits their avg sat score and gpa. But who knows
@MrAirbender All bets are off for everyone at UCSB. It’s campus is incredibly popular, especially with OOS residents. You’ll know soon. Plus you have no need to be nervous with UCSC in your back pocket!
