UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

Any international student who got in with low stats?

@quinoa721 in state, white, and didnt submit my sat. I just reread my essays because I didnt know how I got in and iactually do think they were pretty good. How about you? did you get in?

@clumsy915 oh dang! I have the same stats as you and was banking on SB

@quaivoltaire auto reject pile?! What is that?? So the UC’s do not read every application?

@xxkookiexx I think you got in because I think that the decisions today were leaked early. You will probably see the same thing tomorrow, don’t worry about it! : ) Also did you have a ton of extra curriculars or great essays?

does anyone know how many freshmen applicants Santa barbara usually admits?

@xxkookiexx out of curiosity what major did you apply to?

@sdsuparent20 I am so sorry to hear about your daughter
and yeah it is ridiculous and not fair. I have an impression that UCs are huge fans of GPA. The average of those mid UCs is usually a 4.0 and I wonder if those who had a slightly lower GPA like me and your daughter aren’t even being seriously considered. Sorry for being so negative but I was crushed last weekend for 3 rejections in a row.

@jaqueBear Idk if that statement is true lol. I have a 3.59 UC GPA and a 31 ACT score and got into UCSB, UCSD, and UC Davis. I didn’t apply to LA or Berkley, but even I realize how bad my stats are compared to other’s.

@whatcollege2022 you’re giving me hope. what do you think it was about your app that got you in?

@llaurenn For starters, I think being OOS helps. Besides that, I volunteered a lot at the library and other special events. I also had a relevant internship at my counties local fire department’s IT Services. I firmly believe that the UC’s really do look at every application holistically and thoroughly or else I would not be able to get into any of them based on my stats and test scores.

@whatcollege2022 then I have no idea what went wrong. My counselor was straight up with the fact that my GPA is not great and UCs love hgh GPA. Maybe ethnicity plays a role too. I am Asian so does it make it more difficult?

@JaqueBear: The UC’s banned affirmative action so race/ethnicity are not considerations in UC admissions.

@jaqueBear are you in state or oos?

I have low stats and got accepted so there’s hope for everyone.

I was very worried of not get accepted. My AP lit teacher offered to help students with their essays but i waited last minute and I didn’t want to wait afterschool for her to review them. Took me about an hour to write all 4, if added up. And I didn’t even bother to review them.
I’m so shocked.
Accepted: CSULA, CSUF, UCR, UCSB
Denied: UCSD, CSULB
Waiting on: UCI & SDSU

@JaqueBear Did you apply to UCR and UCSC?

@collegedreamer167 i have pretty average extracurriculars. i was involved with alot of service oriented clubs and held various leadership positions. i also did things like tutor elementary kids and Vietnamese immigrants, etc. i think really rocked it with describing what i did. my essays were also pretty solid and unique! it helped showcase a lot of different sides to me. i didn’t think any of this would’ve helped boost my chances in getting admitted, but i guess it did!

@llaurenn I had insufficient units due to a certain course not transferring properly. this had made my app read as that of a sophomore, and thus inadmissible. but I made them up the summer before transferring and explained as much in my appeal letter and that worked out just fine!

@whatcollege2022 I am in state. Tbh my school is very good and I heard that UCs only accept a fixed number of students from one school?if my classmates are too competitive they may take them over me? I really don’t know.

@CopperlineX2 I got into UCSC. Didn’t apply UCR.
