UCSB Admission - Class of 2022

@psi123 About 28% for this fall for freshman (vs. 32% last year). There were about 92,000 applicants for Freshman - up 12% vs. 2017. They typically accept about 26k for class size of about 5k. In 2017, they accepted 26k, class size ~4.9k, acceptance rate about 32%. They will usually post official #s in July.

@psi123 and another interesting point is the acceptance rate for UCLA just 4 years ago in 2014 was 28% and now it is projected to be about 14%

@psi123 Selfishly hoping many of those accepted also got into other schools they prefer

Just received my acceptance letter in the mail

@lilaclily Just a letter? No fancy packet like UCSD?

@CopperlineX2 I didn’t apply to UCSD so I don’t know how it looks. For UCSB it’s a small yellow envelope with a paper saying congrats and my name, a little envelope with photos that look like polaroids from around the school, and a long banner saying future gaucho on one side with info on the other.

Heyo, anyone probably going in for Pre Economics and Accounting? I just want to talk to you guys and ask some questions

So extremely unimpressed with UCSB’s acceptance envelope. I won’t even call it a packet. Compared to other UC’s and CSU packets, this is lame. #unimpressed #boring!

@teachmama2 Idk the poster they sent of the beautiful campus on the ocean almost made me commit lol

I am also sort of disappointed by the packet. My mom picked it up, she even thought it was a bunch of postcards at first. I am definitely grateful for UCSB admitting me, but seriously can’t even compare the admitted student packet with UCSD’s fancy package (even having a certificate of admission).

I actually thought ucsb admission letter was cute with the little Polaroid things and the little poster it made me feel sentimental and want to commit. I didn’t really like the ucsd ones tbh everyone I know and I got it in the mail all torn up

wah, my packet is better than your packet

Should’ve seen UCR’s packet, included a foldable heart
 amazing.

What does the admission letter look like? I was admitted and haven’t gotten one.

Accepted: UC Davis, UC Irvine, CSUN, Pepperdine, Cal Lutheran
Waitlisted: UC Santa Barbara
Rejected: UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UC Berkeley
SAT: 1260 with 18 essay, and 1350 without essay
UC (W): 4.462
UC (Capped): 4.192
Lots of ECs, including 11 years of Girl Scouts
Can someone tell me my chances of getting into UCSB if I was waitlisted? My major is Pre-Biology. Thank you!

@hipkidz1 no one really knows the chances as this year is really competitive and it appears the UCs have a much larger waitlist overall. The statistics are hard to track on Waitlists. But meanwhile, choose your best option to commit to both financially and emotionally, and then see if you get any updates from UCSB that change your mind later. You have some very nice choices - congrats!!!

Son was accepted at UCSB but yesterday was also accepted at UC Berkeley.
Accepted: UCB, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD
Waitlisted: NYU, CP SLO
Rejected: Cornell, Tufts, Stanford
ACT: 32
GPA 4.0 UW: UC GPA 4.9 - Capped at 4.4
EC’s: Very decent
Major applied: UCB, UCLA - Math. UCSD & UCSB - Chemical Engineering 1st & Math 2nd
UCB gives him $3,600 but UCLA $280
UCLA is 20 minutes away from home.
He is torn between UCLA, UCB , UCSD (Admitted to his first choice of major, chemical engineering) and UCSB (Honor program in math)

Any comments?

@ Manado Congratulations! Those are all amazing choices. Did any of them offer more financial aid, or does he have close friends that are going to any of those universities? Is there a particular campus that he just feel in love with or you think would support his particular type of personality? Tough and amazing choices

texcalmom, Thank you so much for your input. No other financial aid offered. He fell in love with UCSB campus. Close friends in UCLA. UCB match his personality. He has not visited UCSD yet. Maybe after visiting UCSD he will have more insight oh his decision making.

@Manado obviously UCLA or Berkeley
