Accepted to UCSD and UCD, Waitlisted to UCLA
Sorry if I seem mad BUT I AM MAD! In state students need to have priority, PERIOD. I have now been waitlisted to 2 UCs, rejected at one, and I still haven’t heard from uci. My stats, ecs, and essays were incredible, I was applying to nonimpacted majors, and to think i was waitlisted because I was plucked randomly from the pile of highly qualified students and put in to the waitlist is awful.
Accepted!
Pre-Chemistry major
3.75 UC GPA

Excellent essays
@brokencoconut That’s awfully jaded. Let’s not forget that many OOS applicants worked their ass off to be an exceptional applicant to this school. To downplay their achievement by saying they are only being accepted because the UC system favors OOS is ludicrous. If you deserve to get into UCSB, you will (with the exception of them turning down some majorly overqualified applicants), and some of you don’t deserve to be let in, but will anyways.
Sure, the UC system likes the money from non-Californians, but nobody here has the right to a spot at UCSB, so to say a non-Californian “stole” the spot of a Californian just makes you look like an angry kid with an anti-UC agenda.
In! Anyone know about the L&S honors program? My portal says I was admitted but doesn’t give extra info?
For those accepted, is your FInancial Aid up?

Feeling down but Santa Cruz is awesome too.
@tromicron the UCs do favor OOS. CA only cares about $$$. No other state would allow a public school system to do this.
@brokencoconut I am OOS but i got rejected to UCSB
Yes, in fact, it does happen in other states. My problem was when you said the student stole someone else’s space, which is absolutely ridiculous.
@tromicron if you read my first post you would know that’s exactly what they do
is UCSB harder to get in than UCSD??
Rejected for computer science.
UC GPA: 4.35 SAT: 1880
Not too bothered because I got into my number one already.
Congrats to those accepted!
@kayasizzle I’m truly sorry. Obviously they cannot accept every OOS student
@khanam, did they have CCS in the acceptance on the portal? congratulations, hopefully my son got CCS physics!
is UCSB harder to get in than UCSD??
Acceptance rates are also higher for OOS
Accepted instate for Mathematics (alternate). I applied for CS and am sad that I didn’t get in for it. Does anyone know if I can somehow switch into CS? That’s what I’m truly passionate about and have done many things revolving around it. Also, what does a Math major do for a living? Thanks guys
Btw, my scores:
1990 SAT (570 CR, 720 M, 700 W)
710 SAT II Math 2
640 SAT II Physics
4.3 UC GPA
good essays revolving around technology, Silicon Valley, etc. Great ECs
@WonwillP UCSD is harder to get into than UCSB.
