Are decisions out already?
@twffany no, they come out on the 21st at 3pm PST, which was noted in the email that they sent to all applicants.
When was that email sent out?
@anya6606 It was sent out on March 7.
I never got that email:( I really hope that doesn’t mean I didn’t get in @mintchipmagic
@anya6606 Maybe check your spam?
In any case, I don’t think that it necessarily means you didn’t get in. If anything, that probably just means that they missed something on their mailing list. Don’t worry!
I hope so anyway thanks @mintchipmagic
@LittleCatSwagg no, UCSD is still ranked higher than UCSB. “Overall satisfaction” aka location, cost of tuition, experience maybe… but UCSD is ranked higher on the tier, probably because it’s harder to get into than UCSB. SD’s acceptance rate is lower than SB’s.
@anya6606 I think the email was just for people who hadnt made their portal yet!
It can’t be because I made my portal the first day I could and got the email.
@futurelawyer88 there are lots of ranking systems, each using different criteria. UCSB likes to quote USNWR Top Public National Universities where UCSB is ranked 8th, UCI 9th and UCD/UCSD tied for 10th. Niche has UCSB at 18, Davis at 24 and UCSD at 36. I’m sure UCSD has a list of stats where they are ranked higher.
I got rejected from Davis, Cal Poly, and UCLA and waitlisted at UCSD, do I have a chance at UCSB for comp sci?
I am nervous about tomorrow’s decision UCSB is where I really want to go. I am hoping for Berkeley too (hey, one can dream!). I applied for Biological Sciences for UCSB.
Anyway, here are my stats:
1st to attend University
UC GPA 3.92 graduating with an overall GPA of 3.96. Mediocre test scores 24 ACT (28 English 25 Math) & a 1650 SAT taken in the 11th grade. Could not afford to retake them and I suffer from texting anxiety
ELC candidate but I know they don’t care about that.
Spanish I II & III awards-Straight A’s except for 3 B’s my entire high school career. Physics & Govt Awards and Math.
Currently taking UC Scouts Statistics course online, ERWC, Econ, Physics.
Attend a very small charter school, partially home schooled. No AP or IB programs available. I took the most rigorous courses they had to offer. Was lucky to have a-g classes. Completed Spanish III in the 11th grade. Leadership for 3 years. Lead actor in play.
Creator of science bowl team. Ten member crew who competed for recognition from Sandia Labs.
Good EC’s (I think)- Internship for an Assemblywoman, lector at church, teaching baseball to disabled children, fundraising events for breast cancer patients, volunteered at the library.
Accepted to UC Santa Cruz for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology , Purdue and CSUMB
Denied UCSD, Cal Poly SLO, SDSU
Waiting on UCSB, Villanova, UPenn (HAHA! No chance but what the heck!),
UCB (long shot but they requested LOR’s)
I am a Native American-Hispanic male, LGBT but the UC’s don’t consider this.
Good luck to everybody! Tomorrow is the big day
I’m so nervous for tomorrow I can’t think straight
futurelawyer88. US News ranks UCSB at 37 and UCSD at 44. UCSB, according to US News, has a 33 % acceptance rate and UCSD has 34% acceptance rate. What information are you using to determine that SD is harder to get into?
@pog2016 Look at the freshman profiles for each school. Students at UCSD have higher average GPA and SAT scores.
@uclahopefull that could just mean more holistic not easier to get into
UC Santa Barbara is my dream school… so nervous for tomorrow.
UC GPA: 4.1, SAT: 1330
Major: Biological Sciences
I’ve been accepted into UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego & some private schools so far. Denied from Cal Poly
fingers crossed…
ACT 30
GPA 3.57
And I was rejected by UCSD
So this is my last hope
ACT: 35
GPA: 3.76 UW/4.03 W
I was rejected by Davis, UCLA, Cal Poly and probably by Irvine since I haven’t heard back yet. Waitlisted to UCSD. This is my last hope too
