@deadroses it was this evening around 8. apparently shes the CCS math program coordinator…idk if this is actually significant or if they just send this to a bunch of students though?
@sadsenior i think if she reached out to you, she was definitely interested!
@sadsenior CCS is a good program. I’d apply if you are a math major with interest in research.

@sadsenior, my daughter received an email from the CCS math department too. We hadn’t heard of the program and found very little information abt it but it sounds like an interesting opportunity. Harvey Mudd is her top choice, but this program may be a great alternative if she doesn’t get into HMC or receive enough aid. My only concern is that while she plans to major in math, I would prefer her to have a semester or two of classes before making her final decision. CCS sounds like a commitment from the start with no room to change your mind.
Our D received today in mail inviting to a reception. The date set for San Jose is March 19th. Does it mean she made it? Thanks.
Yes, Chancellor’s reception in the past means admission
@bluengold88 Hope you are right. Thank you.
@Madrocks what are her stats?
@avancer 3.96 gpa, 2200 SAT, ACT 34, SAT math level 2 and bio 800
Unweighted gpa
Went to the reception in 2015, as others have posted, attendees are told at the outset that they are admitted.
I live near Redondo Beach. Were all the invitations supposed to go out today for Chancellor’s?
@Madrocks Did your daughter’s portal update?
@emli8100 no, it did not update.
If it’s like Regents, portals won’t update until the official announcement date, even though you know earlier.
Correct, portals will not update until the official release date
Got a reception invite in the mail.
How are you notified of regents invitation for UCSB? Do they email you like Berkeley?
Well, as recommended from someone. Chance me please?
Well, I know these days UCs are as competitive as before 2014…but please chance me.
Background
I have dual citizenships, USA and Korea, and spent most of life on South Korea until I moved to California with my family at sophomore year…
Low income: Around 40K but did not apply for UOP, so who knows if it does not help at all…
UC GPA: 4.08(2APs - AP Composition AP USH- and 1 Approved Honors, AMA, in Sophomore and Senior) Well I was not allowed to take any honors class at first; Quoting speaking from my then counselor, ‘Your English is still needed to improve.’ And then, after showing some good grades, then I could take Honors Biology and Algebra 2 in second Semester of Sophomore, which are not weighed, lol. But I did not write down on the application that explanation about my lacking in APs, Ha! How stupid I was…
Senior Schedule
AP Physics C
AP Economic
AP Calculus BC
Student Leadership: Very competitive class to get in. Plan and participate in most school events
AP Lit
German 2
I got straight As in first semester, so if I get rejected, then I would use that in an appeal letter in a case.
Test scores
Old SAT 1890 (Somehow I sent this, lol)
New SAT 1410 Math 730, English 680
ACT 30
SAT subject test
Math two 800…
AP test
AP Composition 3
APUSH 4
My major: Undecided at college of letter and science.
ECs almost none
Cross Country at senior
Track and Field at Junior and Senior
Mock Trial at Junior
Key Club from Sophomore to Senior
Some academic awards from my school, like something which is required to have over 3.5 gpa,
CSF
It’s all I write down on…Omg.
Well the fact is, there are a few more clubs I’m belonging to from Sophomore to Seniors, but I did not write that on application as I thought those were not big deal, and now I realized how stupid I was…
Essay, inconsistent I guess?
I don’t know honestly, but the fact is, I write about how interesting literature is, and I only took Math subject test, not literature…
