I got the invite yesterday. Is this regents or something else?
@Madrocks @elkieschoof @Zdawg99 what states are you in?
@languages northern california
@Zdawg99 No, it is not Regents. I’m sure many of the invitees will be offered Regents eventually. It is just a nice way for UCSB to reach out to some of the most promising students they plan to admit in order to persuade them to choose UCSB and not some other college.
I received a letter yesterday - super excited!!!
Here are some of my stats, if anyone is curious:
UC GPA: 4.12
ACT: 34 (36R, 36W, 33S, 31M)
SAT II: 800 Bio, 750 US History, 720 Lit
AP: 5 semesters junior year; 8 semesters senior year. No APs offered for freshmen or sophomores. AP Bio - 3, AP Comp Gov - 3, AP Lang - 5
- lots of ECs, leadership, and volunteer work; very solid essays
@lanabanana99 The Regents comes in a big envelope, big enough to hold a letter without folding it. It contains a letter, certificate, and a school brochure.
@BunnyBlue what are the chances of someone getting regents if they’ve been invited to chancellor’s?
Sorry, I don’t know. Btw I just read a post about someone invited to apply for Regents at Berkeley who didn’t get the UCSB Chancellor’s invite. Very odd.
Those butts at UCSB said an invitation doesn’t mean acceptance. Like seriously why couldn’t they just be straightforward
@emli8100 Actually the administration at UCSB is very nice to work with if you ever have the need. I think you’d find them friendlier and more down-to-earth than some of the other UCs based on my experiences.
@youcee I know! I definitely wasn’t trying to slam them or anything. I was being silly and sarcastic and I’m genuinely sorry if that offended you. I’m sure they’re great. I just wish that they’d just admit that Chancellor’s invitees are accepted fo’sho unless if they changed something in their admissions policies this year
They like to use the reception to surprise and honor the students with the announcement that they are admitted. They don’t want to spoil the fun by telling them in advance. Sorry if we are spoiling it, but a lot of us just want to know now.
Got my invite today…planning on DC Reception
@emli8100 everyone invited are in honors program. less than 20% are regents
So hold on. Receiving the Chancellor’s invite means that I’m going to be accepted for sure to UCSB? Can anyone confirm this is true?
@splp12345 everyone is in the honors program? did u go to the event before and they said that?
is there money awarded to honors students?
^pls omg i am broke af
No money for honors but some other perks.
@jejiang: If you get Regents, you are automatically accepted into the Honors college with $$. If you do not receive Regents, then no $$ is awarded for Honor’s students.
The Regents Scholarship is a $6,000 yearly award for up to four years or until graduation (whichever comes first), with a maximum amount of $24,000. Scholarship funds are disbursed evenly over the three quarters (fall, winter, and spring) of each academic year, providing $2,000 per quarter.
