****UCSB Admissions 2021****

Does anyone know where you find your ucsb net ID to log into financial aid?

I got into UCSD and waitlisted by UCSB my gpa was a 3.8 weighted and sat score 1160

@phoenixbaby I found my perm number in the UCSB Application Confirmation email. I hope that helps. I don’t know it the perm number works as well as the net ID to log into financial aid or not.

Is anyone else not able to see the financial aid?

@CABoyMom I feel the exact same way. Mine did everything that was expected and then some. It was a rough 4 years for sure; feeling let down by our system. Especially hard to see others with lower scores; and I know it’s not all about scores with Santa Barbara which is why she was so hopeful. My daughter has not had the easy life; military child, has moved all over the world every three years even through high school, and managed to keep up her activities and school work in hopes of returning to our home state to go to college. Nothing is promised; but kids like these with continuous rejections are squeezing others out too. Because now they will take the state school spots, and those who would have gone to state, where do those kids go? Just my thoughts.

My son was rejected. Low stats compared to most of you. Thought maybe SB needed an extra dose of swag. Guess they’re good with you all. Thankfully he has other options. Commence frantic college visits.

@ccwwbb Honors program means that you will have priority in taking courses which is a big deal. There are also some additional courses (1 per year i think) and dissertation, which will let you graduate with honors. The second part is optional and it is a big deal. Congratulations!

Accepted!

@Madrocks I see! Thank you so much

Accepted Pre-Bio!
Also accepted at UCD but waitlisted at my first choice UCI :-/

Rejected. I got rejected or waitlisted to every UC I applied to. I have a 35 ACT and 3.76/4.03 GPA and applied for comp sci. I thought I would get into at least one of the UC’s, thought I had a decent shot at UCSB and UCD but I guess not. I don’t know what I’m going to do now

I just got accepted. Didn’t offer admission for my first major of choice, but I got my second major.

Stats:
GPA: 3.4 (UW) 3.8-ish.
SAT (New): 1230

EC’s:

  • Vice president of a volunteer club at my school, member of 4 years
  • Varsity Badminton player for 4 years (Varsity all 4 years)
  • Cross Country Captain for 2 years, been on the team for 4 years total. (Varsity for 3 years)
  • Girls Basketball Captain 1 year, been on the team 4 years total.
  • Volunteer at a soup kitchen for a year
  • ASB member
  • Been working four days a week since I turned 16.
  • Badminton league finals champion.

AP’s:
AP World History : 4
AP Chemistry : 4
AP Calculus : 5
AP English Language : 3
AP Biology : 4

Major:
1st : CS (With these stats, you guys might think I’m crazy.)
2nd: Physics

I think with my low stats, my EC’s and essays got me in. Got a C and D first semester of junior year, brought my grades up to A’s second semester. (Wrote about that in one of my essays though)

Essay 1: Sports, how I didn’t let my asthma and thalassemia stop me from doing what I wanted to do.
2: Volunteer work, how it helped shape me to being who I am today.
3: Computer science, what got me to love the subject. (Sadly didn’t get this as my major)
4. Junior year grades (As explained earlier)

UCSB was my third choice. Hoping to get accepted into UCI.

Such a crazy competitive and arbitrary process. There’s no doubt you’d do well at any of the UC schools. I hope you’ll be admitted to the place that is perfect for you. You’ve got great grades and stats, and should find a wonderful home.

@cdnotready wow sorry man. that’s incredibly saddening. i guess i can guess why; cs is CRAZY competitive. you could definitely go to cc and transfer. i have no doubt you’ll go far in life.
