So sorry to hear this @CABoyMom. The entire college process is gut-wrenching and inexplicable. Great students with great grades get turned away. In the end, though, it will not define who they are, or what they become. Hollow words now, but I know this from experience. Best of luck to your son as he goes forward.
@Versalia Thanks. I really don’t want to go to a cc though, plus my parents would hate me doing that. I’m a national merit finalist though so I might apply to University of Oklahoma, there’s basically a full ride for NMF if you get in there, maybe saving money would be better
@chip78651 Don’t think that way. You are young, and very smart with a world of promise ahead of you. A bunch of 20 and 30 somethings sitting in a room debating your college application is the measure of nothing. Best luck going forward. You’ll end in a great spot

Anyone have a clue as to when the FA awards will be released? Huge deciding factor for me
I have a D your age. Years ago when I was applying, I gave up a great private school that gave me enough scholarship. For whatever reason, I chose a state school that don’t compare with any of the UC schools. Life turned out alright. I feel your pain though.
@wormholes click on the honors icon to “learn more.”
@PadreDeTres that is disappointing to hear. Best of luck to your son, wherever he decides to go!
@PadreDeTres, if your son breathes CS & had a temporary setback due to health issues, perhaps he should consider going to a community college rather than CSU & transfer to a good UC after 2 years. I know several people who’ve done this & have had great careers. I don’t know how easy it is to transfer from a CSU to a UC.
First rejection out of 11 colleges.
I got accepted to all the CSU’s (Cal Poly (3rd choice), SFSU, SJSU, East Bay), and privates (University of Pacific, Holy Names, Saint Mary’s, Menlo College (38%), Dominican University) And for the UCs, I got accepted to UC Davis (second choice), and UC Santa Cruz!
My first rejection, UC Santa Barbara. My goal was to have no rejection especially when I’ll be the first one to go to college. Ahhhhh, my last UC I am waiting for is UC Berkley (First choice). So terrified!!! Whatever happens, it’s meant to be.

I’m 25, and when I went to college straight out of High school I got a semester of bad grades and never went back, however I have an upward scale of good grades since returning 5 years later.
I am a single mother, I work, I attend school full time and I played soccer for the college team.
My personal insight questions were based on overcoming struggles from low income family, first generation college student, student athlete and being a single mother.
Accepted to UCSB
Pending UCLA, UCD, UCSC
Good Luck Everyone!!
rejected…/: CS major
does anyone know if i have to accept admission to know my financial aid status?? are they not going to tell us cost beforehand?
@gureum That’d be cruel to lock someone into committing only to provide them little to no financial aid. They’ll probably release FA statuses soon.
