Hey so I will be applying in the fall and I would like to know how much gpa is hurting me and my overall chance. Thanks in advance!

Gpa: 3.4uw, 3.7 UC gpa
Sats: 1890 (600cr, 650m, 640w) will take again and hopefully get a 1950+
Act: In October (Probably 28-9)
NO ap's junior year, but 3 as a senior(ab calc, physics b, stats or world history)

EC's:
Rowing:4 years, 3 on varsity
Soccer freshman year
50-70hrs of volunteer work teaching incoming freshman to row

Other:
Out of state (CT resident)
White male
Income:~120,000
Essays: Assume that they're pretty good

Any input is appreciated

My sister is currently at Santa Barbara, we’re from NJ. Being out of state right now will help because the UC system can’t handle giving all the in state kids breaks on tuition, so they’re looking to charge out of state kids full price (~53k for UCSB). Sister probably had the same SAT but a bit higher ACT (31 I think). However, my sister thinks that she was on the higher side of the spectrum for admissions there, so being a little lower miiight not hurt you. The ECs are a little bare and don’t show much leadership though. From what I know, you could have a decent chance.

Get over 1950 on your SATs, ACE senior year, and I’d say that you have a better than average chance at UCSB and the other mid UC’s. Your most likely in at ucsc and ucr btw.

thanks to both of you

Hey thanks for chancing my post!
I say you have a pretty good chance at UCSB
you’re GPA is not bad and the 4 years of rowing looks awesome
a 2000+ on the SAT will pretty much solidify your chances of getting in, and other than that I say you’ll almost definitely get in.
UCR is a safety for you hands down (my brother got into UCR with an average 3.4 GPA and a 1750 SAT score) and Irvine is also a match for you. Goodluck I’ll also be applying there too!
