Hi everyone! :-)
I recently got accepted to UCSB as a transfer student and was checking out these three apartments online:

Santa Ynez
El Dorado
Westgate

Although I have no time to go visit, I was wondering...what do you fellow UCSB students think is the best apartment to live in as a first year transfer? Please share your personal experiences. I'd love to know.
Thank you in advance.

I was thinking the same thing, but I think for the first year I will be trying out the dorm. And the 2nd year I was planning on going for a studio apartment at Westgate. I’ll be stalking this site to see what the answers will be.

Wddup baws. I heard a lot of good things about Santa Ynez. I found this YouTube video of a tour: [Santa Ynez Apartment - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpWl1QplLlQ)

Also, I heard Manzanita Village is really nice…but expensive. You’ll end up dorming with freshmen and other grads. I’ll let you know if I find out more info :-)

Santa Ynez is the nicest of the three apartments. Manzanita is not worth the money in my opinion.

I lived in SY my first year as a transfer, then El D. this year. I will never live in El D again, its super ghetto, and loud as *****… people playing ping pong right next to the study room every night. SY was awesome. & the renovated the 100’s & more recently the 300’s. Its nice and roomy, gym close by, and like 3 study rooms. Cant go wrong with SY. Also, regarding the social aspect/ partying, santa ynez kills el dorado because you actually have front and back area to have large parties. El D reminds me of a motel 6.

I can’t agree more! El dorado is a bit dirty too! Santa ynez has really pretty views. Even though the houses are small, it’s still enough.

Hi guys!
I would like to know where everyone’s planning on housing down in UCSB. I got a nice cool pad with my friends down in Isla Vista. ::excited::

I’ve always wondered about UCSB’s campus apartments and if they’re even worth living in.

Anyone know anything about Westgate? Seems to be robberies around there…

Hm, don’t really know much about Westgate…is that the one with the pool? Did they place you there? It’s not as bad in pictures. Robberies probably happen to careless people. Hope for the best!

You got a place in IV? Isn’t that party central?

I’m cool with my place at Santa Yenez. Nice area. It’s close to stuff, there’s a gym there (I really like that), study rooms (I didn’t know about this until now), and rent is only like 550 or something. It’s perfect for me.

Yeah! I’m living with my friends in IV. It’ll be fun. It’s 740 buy meh. It’s closer to campus. Idk I change my mind a lot

It was at 9AM in broad daylight, 3 guys jumped a student punched him and stole his wallet!

Be vigilant, don’t go anywhere alone?

People must be really stupid to roam around places alone. I always have pepper spray and tear gas in hand ALWAYS.
