If anyone appealed to ucsb and got in what did you write about?
For an appeal to be valid, you must have some compelling reason that shows the school you are a much stronger applicant than originally present on your UC application.
Did you have some illness that resulted in lower grades that was not mentioned in your PIQ’s?
Do you have health problems that require you to stay close to home for medical care?
Was their a personal hardship that affected your academic performance?
All valid reasons to appeal.
High grades received in the senior year, recently acquired awards or additional extracurricular activities are not a basis for the reversal of a decision since decisions are based on academic information that was available at the time of application.
My daughter’s friend (Los Angeles) just found out today she won her appeal with UCSB. She’s going!
That’s awesome! I still haven’t gotten my decision yet:(
Do you know what she wrote about or when she submitted it?
About her ill brother.
Don’t know when it was submitted exactly, but she said awhile ago
Has anyone heard from your UCSB Appeal yet? I haven’t heard nor received the decision from the appeal. Any idea?
Any thoughts on when appeals to UCSB might be releasing? Looks like some students have heard regarding the waitlist. TIA
That’s awesome @natberstein. Hoping good news starts to multiply.
No idea when they will be released since they are reviewed on a case by case basis.
Has anyone heard anything since the first wave of appeal decisions?
darn my appeal didn’t get approved
Sorry to hear that - so disappointing. My daughter is still waiting to hear…
Appeal denied today. No explanation for the denial.
Was that for transfer or freshman?
freshman.
Both transfer sons denied fall appeals but conditionally guaranteed winter so now scrambling for housing.
Thank you for the update and very interesting to see that UCSB is offering Winter Quarter admission. Definitely something new for UCSB.
Best of luck to your students.
