UCSB CCS vs Berkeley

Hello! I'm a physics major, and I would like some insight into both Berkeley physics (and applied math since, if I go there, I plan on double majoring) and UCSB College of Creative studies for physics. The thing is, it seems that UCSB CCS prepares a person for physics research in the future, but I don't know if I want to do that. I love physics and math, but right now, I don't know if I want to become a researcher xD. UCSB also offered me their global scholarship (since I'm international) which is about 2.5k in the first year and 5k/yr for the following three years. However, I'm going to get my green card by next year and my family is moving to California, so thus I'll become an in-state resident next year. I'll probably lose that scholarship since I will lose my international status. However, I was wondering if Berkeley has something similar for internationals, or if I will be able to negotiate so that I can cut down my tuition for the FIRST year by about $5k (or less....anything would be nice xD).
Also, I feel like Berkeley would be more my type of environment than UCSB >.<...plus, of course, there's the matter of prestige in name. In terms of academics, how does Berkeley physics compare with UCSB CCS physics?

Thanks!

You should definitely go to Berkeley, since it looks like the cost difference is $2.5k for the first year and possibly zero after that.

Berkeley has the international brand, UCSB does not. I don’t see ANY reason why you’d to go UCSB in this case :)

Have you been to Santa Barbara?? Have you?

I have lived (briefly) in Santa Barbara, and spent 6 weeks at Berkeley (in an intensive graduate Latin immersion course many, many summers ago).

All I am saying is: Just make sure you’ve visited both schools and spent time with both faculties before you buy into the ‘there is no reason’ to consider UCSB (or an other high quality institution located in a veritable new world paradise that expresses a personal and financial interest in your education!!!) mantra.
