How is it looking for me to be a possible future Gaucho!? :D

I would call UCSB a reachy match. It may be worth applying if you have the extra cash for the application and are willing to pay out of state tuition (which personally I do not think is worth it) but it is definitely not a safety for you. Also, are you aware there is no financial aid for OOS students? That is true for all UCs, not just UCSB.

The fact that you are a full pay OOS applicant (with stats roughly in the middle of their currently matriculating students) is a definite plus. UCs cannot by law consider race or ethnicity, so that is a wash or even a benefit to you. Even though your AP scores are not stellar, you have a lot of them, so that is good and you get college credit for several of them, too. Your ECs look very solid, far more than my S had. Is there any way you could take the SAT or ACT one more time and see if your score inches up just to ensure you are the best applicant you can be? Senior classes are important to show rigor and you don’t want to get anything under a C and you also must maintain a 3.0 average, but other than that they really don’t matter from an admissions perspective. Once you are in, bad senior grades can only get you revoked.
If money is really no object and you are willing to work on your essay (and get teacher/editing help) I would say definitely apply, what do you have to lose? Also, if you are not applying to any other UC, I would make a point of that in your essay as well, they want to admit students who are going to attend! Take note, the UCs have a fairly early deadline, make sure not to miss it.

I did take the ACT once more last saturday. I’m honestly expecting a 30 on it! Thanks for the feedback, I feel pretty good about it haha and there’s no way I’ll fail anything senior year so I think I’m safe there, thanks again man! I really appreciate it

im incoming fresh in-state,
highskl gpa unweighted is 3.84, sat 1500,act 23. life membership of the california scholarship federation, about 200 volunteer hrs and i got in…
guess im pretty lucky but u will get in just fine.

I think you have a 60% chance of getting in. Your SAT scores are higher than decent and your gpa is good. Your E.C.'s will give you more of an advantage than most other applicants.

With your stats it’s pretty much a crapshoot. I got in with an 1880SAT score and a 3.8 weighted GPA but I’m chalking that up to luck. Don’t get your hopes up, but don’t take UCSB off your list just yet.

Queso, were you replying to whifang’s post? Whifang has 3.84 unweighted GPA while you have a UC Weighted GPA of 3.86. I wonder if Whifang got in via waitllist as his SAT is quite low. Work on your essay and here’s the profile for the admitted students: ave HS GPA 3.97, ave SAT 1923.

I know a lot of people in my HS with a low GPA and low SAT scores who got accepted into UCSB. (Maybe it was because most of them were asian!) Anyway, I don’t remember the exact figures as it’s been like a year since admissions, when everyone was frantically comparing each other’s scores, but one of my friends who was accepted had a 3.6-something GPA and a SAT score somewhere in the 1600s. She had very few extra-curriculars as well, just peer listener and around say, 200 hours of volunteering, so I think you’ll probably get in!

i was not waitlisted lol. which idk y either. although i worked on my essay really hard but still.
my best friend has lower gpa than me but 2000+sat got waitlisted but got in later anyway.
it was really baffling for my friend since he editted on my essay and his essay was much better than mine…
im chinese american permanet residence with asylum status but my friend is a asian american us citizen… is this y i got in??
