I will post UCSB’s admitted Freshman stats for 2019 and the most current admit rate so you can see how you compare. UCSB does state that 50% of the application review is based on academics and the other 50% on essays, EC’s, special talents etc…

Overall you look competitive so best of luck.

You also need to calculate your UC GPA which could be different than your school’s GPA.

https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSB: 38%

2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 4.20 or above capped weighted and not major specific:
UCSB: 80%

2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCSB: 4.16 (4.04-4.28)

2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals:
UCSB: 1280-1520

thank you for your help! i calculated my UC gpa.
weighted - 4.31
weighted and capped gpa - 4.17
do you think that would affect my chances?

Your GPA and test scores are on target. Everything else is subjective, so it is up to admissions if they find a good a fit. Academically you are competitive.

Currently a UCSB student. You will definitely love UCSB. Good luck!

go to usc u got accepted there. How is ucsb your #1 when you were waitlisted there and you got into top USC. If ucsb is truly your goal rather than usc, go to community college and transfer afterwards.

At the time I wrote this, I hadn’t gotten into USC get so I didn’t know if it was an option yet. I actually got into UCSB off the waitlist but think I will still go to USC, as I have already committed there. Thank you for the advice though!
