My daughter received a chancellor reception letter in the mail today! She has a 4.0 GPA 1800 SAT, she is senior class secretary, lots of leadership, and ran track one year. She has had a job for 6 months also and some community service. We are in so cal, Riverside county! She will probably be at the irvine or LA reception!!

Don’t know her stats, but my friend got the invite. :)

My son got the invite in the mail yesterday. Though if he doesn’t get the a Regent scholarship, he wouldn’t be able to attend. He got accepted to Cal Poly SLO, so might go there instead.

LA Reception on 3/16 full…what a bummer… DS could not find his UCSB email with his perm ID this morning and he was gone all day…now too late…So, register soon if you plan on attending.

It looks like ALL of the California ones are closed.

That is a bummer. Son is Regents, and never even got a chance to RSVP.

@rgosula I’m betting the storm going on when they were mailed delayed some. We got my son’s March 3 but it was mailed 2/27, and went to Santa Clarita 2/28 before coming to Los Angeles. Others are saying their envelopes coming to the Los Angeles area are pretty messed up. There are admitted students days coming up which I think would give a better feel for the campus anyhow, but the administration missed being able to target their top picks if even Regents didn’t get the invitation in time to respond.

For us, the e-mail invitation said that an invitation to arrive in the mail as well which never arrived.

My D received the email (Save the Date Chancellor’s Reception) on 2/21 and the paper invite was postmarked on 2/24. Stats: UC-GPA 4.1, SAT 2050, ACT 33, lots of EC’s- mostly sports but also some community service (church related) and part time job. We replied immediately to SJ reception, I believe that was last Wednesday 2/26 and only just today got the confirmation via email. She applied under Biology (BA).

We got the confirmation e-mail today.

Anyone get an invite for the Chicago reception?

Nah, dc

Daughter received Chancellor’s invite for top applicants via mail with locations listed as SJ, Irvine, LA, DC, and NY. Unfortunately, was double postmarked and delayed so receptions for SoCal were already full. Should she celebrate yet or no? Suspense is killing us…

Old screen name, as she is senior now!

@ProudMomofJunior it is a compliment, no matter what! Where are you located?

@myau I attended one 2 years ago for my son. A lot of alumni, students, and heads of different programs were there answering questions and selling the school. It was really enjoyable listening Chancellor Yang speak; he was informative, very personable and funny! I love him and his wife, Dilling. If you have the time and your child is interested in the school, I’d suggest attending. Attendance has no bearing on whether or not your child will be admitted, since as far as I know, everyone who receives the Chancellor’s invite is admitted.

My daughter just RSVP’d for the Los Angeles reception for 3 of us late last night, and we got a confirmation. Maybe they’ve opened up some spots?

@anotherlamemom They must have unless someone cancelled – maybe they found how many hadn’t received the invitation in time and got a bigger room or something. Thanks for the information!

For those of you who are going to the reception this Sunday at San Jose, please let us know what happened! I’m dying of suspense!

The Seattle reception was today (March 8). Yes – all invitees (whether attending the reception or not) are admitted. Very nice event, at one of the best venues in town; finger-food snacks and beverages were served. The acceptance announcement midway through a PowerPoint presentation took many in the room by (pleasant) surprise. It was a welcoming and warm recruiting effort. Well done, UCSB!
