Does getting the invite to the UCSB Chancellor’s Reception guarantee that you are going to get in?
YES!. its an informal acceptance. apparently the first thign they tell you if you go there is that you got in. Congratulations!
WOW thank you!! I just didn’t want to get my hopes up for nothing. I tried to RSVP too late and it was already full will that change anything?
I am not doubting you at all but how are you sure that it is an acceptance? Just curious
People that have been to the reception in years past have all said that they announce that everyone invited has been accepted
Congrats all!!! So… given top ___ % at UCSB, any thoughts on chances of getting into Berkeley? Any stories of UCSB Chancellor Reception Invitees getting into or rejected from Berkeley?
Too unpredictable. Obviously this is a sign you are well qualified academically, but Cal gets way more great students than it can accept. Furthermore they try to reach deeper into the stack with holistic admissions as an end-run around affirmative action bans.
can someone take a picture of what the letter looks like?
Well Berkeley regents already came out, if that’s what you are asking.
I recieved an invitation through the mail and thought because of these threads that this meant I was accepted. I saw in one forum that there was one reception two years ago in Chicago where inviteed were not all admitted and it said that out of state students were not guaranteed admission. I am from New York and will be attending the reception in the city and am worried that my admission is not guaranteed.
I took my daughter to the first reception today in San Jose. They had all the students stand up and congratulate them for their accomplishments and also let them
what are you supposed to wear?
@missalu I read that it was informal but most families wear business casual. Which one are you going to ? I’m going to the one on March 15 in LA
Got it too!! 6k/yr is amazing, + preferred classes + guaranteed on campus housing! Most likely will not go to SB but still an unbelievable offer.
@mxriela15 okay thanks! im going to the March 14 in LA
@missalu No problem! Let us know how it goes
I heard I was going to go but it was full already not going shouldn’t effect anything right? I should still be admitted?
I got an invite to the chancellors reception too, was going to the one in LA but can’t make it.
1 Does this mean i got into UCSB?
2 Does not going effect me in a bad way?
Thanks!
I went to the Los Angeles reception, they had the applicants stand and then announced that they were admitted.
Congrats, you got accepted!
So uh… not receiving one means rejection or nothing? Did anyone receive no invitation to a reception but get accepted before?
