UCSB Chances - From out of state

Hey guys, I am looking to get into University of California Santa Barbara. I am in Fairfax County, VA at Chantilly High School(top 100 in nation), our grading system is all effed up. 100-94 is an A, 93-90 is a B+, so on and so forth. My GPA is around mid 2's with 2 honors in the past, 2 AP's now(Us History and English), and AP Gov and AP Enviornmental next year. I just took the SAT's ill post my scores as soon as I get them. I play football, I am apart of DECA (chapter officer and district president), and play rugby as well. I do a bunch of community service believe it or not. What do you think are my chances of getting into this school. Thanks.

It's impossible to say without knowing your test scores and UC GPA. You should know that the University of California system requires out of state students to have a MINIMUM GPA of 3.4 - they compute that GPA based on certain courses only. They then have requirements for test scores based on your GPA, and they require both the SAT and two subject exams. These minimum requirements are the same for all UC schools, including UCSB. I would suggest that you go to the University of California's admissions site and carefully read through all of the information there, paying particular attention to the information for out of state students and the courses the UC's will include when computing your UC GPA: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/

Then, also read through the specific information for UCSB - there is a link directly from the above site.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot really appreciate it.....I had just spoken to the admissions counselor after I had posted this thread, and received all of this information. I really appreciate it.
