UCSB Class of 2017 Decisions

As decisions are looking to be released this Tuesday, March 19th, I thought I'd start a thread for all of us applicants to conjugate, collect thoughts, and share our decisions as they are revealed. But first off, to get the ball rolling, what schools did everyone apply to and what are you looking to major in? Also, what other schools have you applied to?

Can't wait for Tuesday!

I can’t believe the wait will finally end! And I’m looking to either major in microbiology,International relations(global studies), or pharmacology! Probably gonna end up double majoring with IR along with a science haha. I applied to far too many schools regrettably haha but the top of my list include: UCSB, UCLA, USC, Cal, UMiami(accepted), UT Austin(accepted) , and UVA

Just ONE MORE DAY OF WAITING!!! I’m really excited. Somehow, someway, I hope I get in. UCSB looks so amazing.

I’ve been accepted into CSULB and UCR, and I was waitlisted at UC Davis, and I’m waiting on UCI and Cal Poly Pomona as well.

CAN’T WAIT FOR TUESDAY!!!

I applied to 13 schools! Too many to name but my too are Cal, Ucsb, Ucsc, and Davis! I was wait listed at Davis and accepted at Ucsc. I was also accepted at csulb, humboldt state and Channel Islands. Rejected at cal poly slo. Hopefully ucsb takes me cause I’m sure cal is a no go!!

I was told I was accepted at the Chancellor’s Reception, but I’ll wait to post my stats until tomorrow with everybody else. :)

Could you please post them now? I and others would like to see the stats of those already accepted!

Accepted Northeastern(big scholly),Miami(big scholly), UCSC, UCSD,waiting UCSB, UCLA,USC,Cal,BC.

[] Job/Work Experience: ASB is essentially a job
[] Volunteer/Community service: ASB is essentially a VOLUNTEER job
[] Personal Statement: I felt that mine were very good. I wrote very clearly and put it all out there; I actually put stuff on there that nobody else knows about me, but I also felt I was taking a risk choosing to write what I wrote about.

[] Intended Major: Biopsychology with Pre-Med emphasis
[] State (if domestic applicant): CA
[] School Type: Public

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I don’t find anything in particular to stand out; Maybe my personal statements?
[] Weaknesses: Again, I don’t find anything in particular to stand out.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Well, my test scores and GPA are fine, so I would like to think that my personal statements helped me out, and maybe my extracurricular activities, especially self-studying AP Psychology. [/li][/ul]General Comments: I love UCSB and will most likely attend. I’ve been accepted to Fordham University, NYU-Poly, UCSC, UCSB, and UCSD. I’m waiting on UCLA, NYU, and USC. Even if I got into any of those three though, I would still probably choose UCSB. It feels like the place for me.
Good luck to you all!

What does “ELC” mean?

Queso100,did you visit both Miami and UCSB? What were your impressions?

I haven’t visited either yet, ill be doing that during the first week of April (Spring Break 2k13!!!) haha so I can’t really give you feedback on their feels just yet!

@MomTheChauffer - ELC is Eligible in the Local Context. You gain ELC status if you are in the top 9% of your high school class or in the state of California. It does not apply to any applicants outside of California. ELC students are guaranteed admission to a UC, and in general, their acceptance rate to the UC’s are higher than those of non-ELC students.

We visited both Miami and UCSB. Loved the vibe at both. Miami is smaller and has more of a “family” feel.

Do you guys know what time they’ll be releasing the decisions tomorrow?

3 PM, according to the email they sent a while ago.

I applied to 14 schools – UChicago, Brown, UCs Berkeley, San Diego and Santa Barbara, NYU, Boston University, Northeastern, Occidental, Union, URedlands, Roanoke, Quinnipiac, Fordham. In at Redlands, Roanoke and Quinnipiac (and thankfully not paying more than 2,000 a year at each), rejected from UChicago and UCSD outright. :c

I’m weird and I’m doing a different major or combination for each school. For Redlands I’m a biology/music double, at Quinnipiac I’m pre-med, and at Roanoke I’m English/biology.

I would love to go somewhere in California, but I really liked NYU, Union and Boston University as well.
