I feel like everyone’s trying to check right now. The site’s running really slowing and keeps giving me 500 errors. I’ve gotten through a couple times but it’s still decision pending. Luckily I have a meeting to go to to take my mind off things and hopefully the decision will be up when I get home…

Rejected
UC GPA: 3.9
ACT: 32

Admitted as a pre-biopsychology major! :)

How do people know if they’ve been accepted into the honors program?

Accepted Pre Bio

High GPA
very low ACT

Son denied
GPA 3.3UW, 3.85 W
Statistics major
2120 SAT (800 math)
29 ACT (36 math)
IB diploma candidate
in state
poor extra curricula, questionable essay
got Highlander Excellence scholarship from UCR

Son applied for chemical engineering, but got admitted to his second choice - Physics. 3.92 UW, 4.2 W, SAT 2010, 200 hours community service, 3 varsity sports - with leadership roles and 11 years classical piano. A bit disappointed, though nice to get an admittance after being wait listed at Cal Poly and Davis (in at UCI)

sigh Looks like a clean sweep for all the UCs (excluding Riverside and Merced, for which I didn’t apply), unless something miraculous happens at the UCI admissions office.

Accepted!!
But I applied at the college of engineering but rather got accepted to College of Letters and Science So unless I have hope of transferring to the college on engineering, I might not even go

Son Rejected
GPA (W): 4.17
GPA (UW): 3.77
Environmental Science Major
ACT: 25 (probably the reason)
200 Hours community service. Varsity Pole Vault
Accepted at UCI, UCD, UCSC, UCR and Cal Poly SLO. Rejected at UCSD.
Congratulations to everyone.

Admitted for pre-biopsychology. My stats were posted earlier, it was just the major I was waiting on.

Regarding CCS…I wouldn’t give up yet. I don’t know for certain but see below the FAQ answer and it sounds like they contact you regarding admission after you get into UCSB…maybe they have to list your second major choice in your acceptance until this happens? Hopefully!

I’ve heard that I’ve been accepted to UCSB , but I haven’t yet heard from the College of Creative Studies. Should I contact Creative Studies to inquire if there is a problem? Answer: No. The Creative Studies admissions process is done separately from, although in coordination with, the UCSB admissions process. The Creative Studies admissions process is very individualized: completed applications are circulated to the faculty in the major to which the applicant has applied, for each of their recommendations. The faculty review the files independently of one another, and review each file on its own merit. In this way, the College’s admissions process is not so much competitive as it is selective to ensure a successful “fit” for both the College and the student.

Because this review is done thoughtfully on a very individualized basis, it takes time. The College will be processing many applications at that time, and school will also be in session. The College of Creative Studies staff will notify you (via email – make sure your current email is included on the application form) if any required materials for your CCS application are not received/are missing. We will also notify you of the decision made about your CCS admission or denial. It may be at least one full month after our receipt of your complete application that we are able to notify you of the outcome. Please be patient; your application is important to us.

Son accepted!
Honors Program

Applied to seven other schools. Accepted at SDSU (Honors), UC Irvine (Honors), Cal Poly SLO Business Administration, UC Davis, and UC Santa Cruz. Waitlisted at UC San Diego but will not opt in as SD was last choice. Waiting on UCLA. So happy as UCSB has always been number one on our list.

ACCEPTED, ****!!! But not to Engineering like applied to. Still though, it feels SO FREAKIN’ GOOD TO BE ACCEPTED INTO UCSB! I might change my major to mathematics possibly.

Stats: 3.5 UC GPA, 1830 SAT

Accepted to first-choice major: Pre-Biology!

UC GPA: 3.7ish?

I got rejected!
Major: Bio
1640 SAT
GPA was around 3.6 (maybe 3.7…I don’t really remember)
ECs: not the best, but not bad either
I think my essays were bad in my eyes…I really only wrote a rough draft and didnt edit it…im really mad at myself for slacking and waiting for the last minute.

Oh well…it looks like I am going to be a Banana Slug at UCSC, unless I get accepted from the waitlist at Davis or if some crazy miracle happens and Cal decides to accept me!
Congratulations to all who were accepted!

Accepted!

3.64 UC GPA 33 ACT 790 Math 2.

Feels good.

Accepted

UC GPA: ~3.8
UW GPA: ~3.3
SAT: 2230 (750M 750R 730W)
Math II: 740
Physics: 800
U.S. History: 780
ACT: 33

Pre-Math major

ECs: School Volleyball 4 years (2 Varsity 2 JV), Club volleyball Physics Club (Vice president), Volunteer for Obama’s reelection campaign

Essays: At least good, probably great.

What I think got me in: Definitely SAT scores, and the fact that I’m taking Calc 3 at a local university this year

Comments: After I got wait listed at Santa Cruz I got super depressed and thought I wouldn’t get into any UCs except Riverside, but somehow I got into UCSB, which is considered more selective and has been my dream school for years. I don’t know which one was an anomaly, but the point is that UC admissions are definitely somewhat random so if you don’t get into one don’t give up hope of getting into others, even if they are more selective than the one you got rejected from

Accepted

UC GPA: ~3.55
UW GPA: ~3.2
SAT: 1660
Math II: 530
U.S. History: 730
No ACT

Pre-Political Science

ECs: 4 years of tennis (2 JV, 2 Varsity), Key Club (Senior Rep), CSF

Essays: Put a lot of effort into it

What I think got me in: I am not sure, I got a 5 on the APUSH test, and a 730 on my SAT II so that might’ve helped. This was my top pick though so I’m pretty excited after getting rejected from Davis and SD

Comments: After getting rejected from Davis and SD, and not even receiving my Riverside admission yet. I was pretty nervous on my admission to SB, I originally applied as a comp sci major but switched to Poly Sci halfway through the application process so sometime in Feb. only for SB though, so that might’ve been a factor in getting accepted since my history scores are above average. Funny thing is I wrote about comp sci in my first personal statement but I guess it didn’t make a difference, I’m just happy I got in since this was my first choice school.
