[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:I guess I made a fairly convincing argument in my essays. [/li][/ul]General Comments: I got rejected from UCLA and UCSD, but I did get into UCSB and UCI, and I’m very grateful for that. All in all, I have no regrets and wouldn’t have done anything differently during high school. I’m not sure where I’m going just yet, but if this happens though, I’ll be the first one among my brothers and sisters to go to a UC instead of a CSU, so I’m hoping this all works out for the best.

i have to make a decision between UCSB and boston U
ucsb major film&media studies

whichi is better if i wanna learn film productions

and BU is art&science school

Ucsb is better…

Well, BU is going to be better for Film production, but I believe UCSB would offer you a better experience overall. I love Boston and my father is actually a BU alum, but over the years BU has turned into a very pretentious and restrictive university. If you want to really study film intensively, I’d suggest going to Bodton, but if you want to study film and have a great time, UCSB is your place.
P.S: I was accepted into the UCSB Film major as well!

Personal Statement: It was alright considering I spent two days writing it and didn’t have anyone look over it lol. I wrote about how Latin was my adaptation for turning my unique qualities that people looked down on me for into something positive.

Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: German and Italian
State: FL
School Type: Public (Private thru Junior Year)
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: $0
Hooks: First generation, did well on my National Latin Exams, also in National Honor Society, Out of State

Reflection
Strengths: Again, I was lucky with my personal statement because it had a major typo in the last sentence and I didn’t take a lot of time with it because I thought I was going to get into my ED school.
Weaknesses: SAT score
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I offered something unique to the table which is why the admissions officers chose to admit me.

General Comments: I am really happy I was admitted here and will probably enroll. My advice to all is to not be discouraged to apply based on demographics or test scores because i certainly did not think I would get in (especially after my sloppy essays).
Good luck to all!

Accepted! :)

Male
SAT: 2160
SAT IIs: Math 2 (720) Literature (760) Spanish (680)
GPA (unweighted): 3.55, UC GPA 4.0, Top 10% in the class

Class Rigor: Been taking Honors from the beginning, 4 Honors as a Sophomore and 3 APs as a Junior
Ethnicity: Filipino (Did not report race on application)
School type: Public
Personal Statement: My first statement was about me losing at a game at the arcade and later being motivated to be better at Model UN (stretched the truth). My second statement was written in a day or two and wasn’t as good, about how my major (Economics) is closest thing to being a magician, my childhood dream job.
Accepted: Loyola Marymount, University of San Diego
Rejected: UCSD, UCLA
Pending: Cal, USC, Stanford (gonna be NOs)
Income: $70,000-ish (My dad was on disability for a while after an accident)

Strengths: SAT score and SAT IIs, rigorous courseload, commitment to Model UN
Weaknesses: Average GPA, one poor personal statement, common ECs

The other schools I got accepted into gave me merit scholarships (including a 25k/year one from USD) but UCSB is still the most affordable. I spent 6 weeks here last summer and learned to love the school and now I realize that this is where I truly belong and couldn’t be happier. I am in the EOP program as well.

What exactly does the eop program do? Im a bit confused on that :(
