***UCSB Class of 2018 Official Decisions Thread***

I’m in Southern California so I’m lucky I don’t have to wait most of the day!

@benny29 - Is your UC GPA unweighted? If so, I think you have a really, really good shot.

@jackson61 no, that’s my weighted GPA. Had a rough freshman year, but I didn’t address it in my essays.

@benny29 - Ah, I see. Freshman year isn’t counted in UC GPA, though… so the 3.84 is just sophomore and junior years? What’s your unweighted (if you don’t mind sharing it)?

@Mbarnes18 @supermom12 It is interesting, UCSB v UCD on admissions. Someone asked about that and I said what I vaguely remembered, that they were pretty close, that UCD admitted stats just a hair higher, but UCSB got a few thousand more applicants… I just looked at it and UCD had a 41% admit rate last year, while UCSB had a 40% admit rate, yet UCSB admitted a slightly larger percentage of applicants in the 3.7-3.9 band of gpa, (45.6% to UCD’s 33%+ -not sure if that counts the wait list for UCD). I think once students are above a certain point in stats the other factors are weighed more heavily.

Mind you, the differences are small, still.

Decisions are up. D is admitted. In-state. Computer Science. 4.0 UW, 4.31 W Capped, 4.89 W Uncapped, 2200 SAT, 34 ACT.

You may want to check your portal - Decisions are up, at least for my son it was.

Decisions are up, rejected

You high schoolers are lucky, transfers get their decisions in batches. I hope mine comes in the first wave!!!

■■■■■■■ bull ■■■■…waitlisted to UCSD and UCD, accepted to Cal Poly SLO, UCSC, SDSU, Long beach, and then my #1 school I get rejected…

@TheDanielJK Cal Poly SLO is a great option to have.

@liveonboca I’m not saying they’re not good options, but to get waitlisted to better schools and then flat out rejected to a school I would rather go to is infuriating

S rejected. :frowning: He is going to San Diego State!

Rejected.
1810 SAT

Accepted at UCD, wait-listed to UCSD.

UC UW GPA: 3.74

An okay amount of ECs, yearbook (leadership), student council, tutor. I work for the DOE at a national laboratory.
I’d say my essays were good, but not phenomenal.

Major: pre-biopsychology

Beyond happy.

Admitted!
3.9 Unweighted GPA 4.5 Weighted
2010 SAT
31 ACT
Several ECs that I’m very involved in and pretty good but not fantastic essays.
In state Medieval Studies Major.

Congrats to everyone else who got in!

@TheDanielJK I understand, my son has now been rejected by SLO and UCSB, it hurts.

Got rejected for my intended major (Chemical Engineering) but got in for Pre-Chemistry. Already admitted to UCSD, Davis and Irvine so UCSB was definitely near the bottom of my list. Maybe SB was taking less engineering positions or just had a different view than the other UC’s during the process.

Stats
4.25ish GPA, 2090 SAT, 33 ACT, sports, some volunteering, some ECs.

Got rejected
