Thank you, @rgosula - sorry your kids won’t be at UCSB, at least one of mine likely will be, but everyone appreciates them releasing their spots in advance of the May 1 deadline so some on the waiting list can get earlier consideration!

I encouraged them to choose 3 schools out of all acceptances, so they can continue debating between them, and release the rest. Those other ones will be probably held towards close to May 1st.

@rgosula Yeah, my kids are doing the same thing, although it is just between two top ones with one of them (Davis and UCSB ) It’s nice to have all the acceptances in your back pocket, but the ones you obviously won’t accept now that you have ones you like better, really should be released so everyone can plan properly. Your kids are doing the right thing!

Welp…It’s May…So who else is nervous? :(

Right here…people have already started to get accepted off the wait list

I doubt ill get in
but anyways congrats to people who got in so far

I am also on the waitlist. I considered appealing but I feared that by appealing I would risk my chances of getting in. Also, I’m scared that if at this point other people have been taken off and I haven’t, my chances are just getting slimmer.

I hope I hear from them soon!

I hope they tell me before i have to put down my housing deposit for my other school :(

The site is down until 3 AM! This probably means they’re uploading decisions. The same thing happened on March 17th.

should I be discouraged if I haven’t heard back yet

@ash929 I am feeling a bit discouraged, but it is only the 4th of May, so there is still time. Also, we don’t know how many people have been taken off yet

@amr108 yeah that’s true, is there any way to find out your ranking on the waitlist?

@ash929 sadly, I don’t think there is. You could try calling UCSB and find out!

I’m not sure it works by ranking. If they ended up with more openings in a major than they thought, or fewer people than they expected from one grouping or another (stats or demographics or arts/music/engineering or whatever) it might make a difference to whom they would take off the list I would think. They would still be building that class…

Good luck to all of you!
