***UCSB CLASS OF 2023 WAITLIST*** Information, Stats and Discussion

Hey waitlist buddies.
Was not too excited to be waitlisted, honestly I’d rather just here a no so I’m not as anxious about it.

Anyways here is me in numbers.

UC GPA: 4.35
SAT: 1330
I have had very strange life circumstances and tried to explain that in my essays.
As for extracurricular activities I’ve done about 400 hours community service, I’m a part of my cities government, I do a few entrepreneur/business clubs, Mock Trial, Academic Decathlon, and I am a top runner for cross country and track.
Major: Undeclared Social Science

Goodluck to all of you, I hope we all get in

According to the CDS, last year they offered 7856 students a place on the waitlist and 4883 accepted a spot. 14 were admitted from those.

@Calmama: Waitlist stats for 2018 and 2017 are listed on the top of this thread but thank you for reposting the information.

Hi my name is Maria

Intended major: Pre-psychological and Brain sciences
(It’s crazy how many people with the same inteded major got waitlisted)
GPA: 4.2
SAT: 1320

Also got waitlisted from UCSD, but UCSB is my ultimate goal! Until then choosing between Northeastern and BU…

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Waitlisted
International Student
SAT: 1310
Major: Marine Biology
IB Mid-Year Grade: 37/45
A lot of ECs related to my major

Accepted Davis and Santa Cruz
Waitlisted San Diego
Rejected LA

Waitlisted
In-State
SAT:1110
GPA: 4.0
Major: Communications
I had A LOT of EC

This is my top choice and ironically the only one where I was waitlisted. I feel so discouraged by the rest of you for being so intelligent and bright. Good-luck to all of us. If I do not get in I will be attending UC Riverside in the fall.

The way colleges decide who they accept and who they don’t is sooo odd to me. My UW was 3.96 and my Weighted was 4.02 and my ACT score was 26… I got waitlisted. I think it might have been because my essay was pretty good and possibly because I graduated early and took the best classes I could have considered I transferred to an independent school.

@sundreams: UCSB puts a large emphasis on essays, so stats are not the only criteria when reviewing applicants.

1st Choice major: Biology. 2nd choice major: biopsychology
GPA: 2.9 LOL (guess my essays were bomb)
… was honestly not expecting a waitlist but this was a happy surprise

i dont think thats true… there are threads similar to this one where people say they have been accepted sometime in June

@Gumbymom do you have a link of this data?

Which data? Waitlist data is found on the Common dataset section C2 but waitlist data is only for Freshman, no data for Transfers.

Wait-listed 4/23

Major:cultural anthropology - yield rate 17%
GPA 3.1- after this semester 3.4
IGETC: done this semester
4 AAs this year

2017 looked like a good year, about 1/4 of wait-listed were accepted
2018 is a horror story, out of almost 5k students wait-listed, only 14 were accepted
Applicants are slightly down this year, but i cant find any stats on how many were admitted or enrolled, wish they had a clock like the national debt clock or something
I had a bumpy first couple years, but the last 2 years I’ve been on the deans list every semester, sucks bruh
This is giving me diarrhea
At least our misery has company

Has anyone who was waitlisted at UCSB heard anything yet? A friend of my daughter’s was waitlisted at UCSD, and then accepted on April 27!
We were really disappointed re the waitlist. My d has a 4.2 weighted and 31 on ACT

@12together: Waitlisted students should expect to hear after May 1. It is unusual to hear early from schools like UCLA or UCSD so your D needs to hang in there and be patient (yes I know very difficult).

Nothing here. My daughter appealed 3 weeks ago and is on the waitlist too. She has a 4.25 weighted and 33 ACT. Still her number one choice.

has anyone contacted the admissions office in regards to how many SIRs they got? i hope they haven’t over enrolled like they did last year.

@whowantlasagna you can do the honors lol!
