UCSB class of 2023

@collegemom111111 We attended in '17 and, yes, the Regents students had a designation on their name tag. It was not a surprise to them. The only surprise was when they had the applicants stand to congratulate them on their accomplishments and said that they were accepted. I thought everyone would know what was about to happen but there were kids and families in tears.

Question about Chancellors invite rsvp-when we try and rsvp to the link online, it keeps saying server is under maintenance. Has anyone else had this? Should we call the school?

What are the stats of the students who received a Chancellor’s invite? My oldest son received an invite several years ago and my two other kids didn’t receive one. My second son eventually got accepted to UCSB, but decided to go to another school. The youngest of the three has a 4.0 g.p.a.(UW) 1500 SAT with a variety of extracurricular activities, but also didn’t receive any Chancellor’s invite.

honestly I don’t know, I got the invitation (update, it came 5 days late after USPS mix up) and I’m below the ‘high’ stats… I have a high gpa but realized i sent my low act score to UCSB… I think they’re more holistic @swagmaster2001

@lkg4answers Thanks for the clarification. Any insight or even guess as to when Regents will be notified this year?

I have a 34 ACT score and a 4.2 GPA which is on the lower side :frowning: I’m really upset because a lot of my friends are getting it and I guess that’s understandable with their 1570 SATs and 4.5 GPA’s but I’m still kind of sad cause UCSB is my dream school idk

Here is the link to last year’s Chancellor reception and locations along with an FAQ. Not getting the Chancellor’s reception invite does not mean the you will not be accepted into UCSB. Also only a small percentage of admitted applicants get the invites and they are usually applicants that live near one of the reception locations. The basis for the invite is not only high stats, but for applicants that have exceptional EC’s and/or Community service so holistic.

I guess it’s getting more competitive every year. My son got a Chancellor’s invite back in 2014, but his younger sibling who is graduating this year and has much better grades, SAT scores and EC’s didn’t receive one.

Did anyone in the NJ/NY area receive an invitation yet?

@gumbymom Do you know or have a guess when regents will come out? Maybe this week so in time for the Chancellor’s reception? Thanks.

@collegemom111111: Although I may be UC Forum Champion, I have no special direct insight or connection to UC admissions. I would assume that Regent scholars would be notified prior to the receptions, but as with anything to do with the UC’s, it can be unpredictable. Sorry if I cannot be any help.

I got a Chancellor’s invitation in NY about a week ago

I didn’t get an invite during the year I applied…still got accepted later on though. A classmate with good but lower stats did get the invite at the time. My sibling with (also) good but lower stats got the invite. It likely is holistic.

Received the Chancellor’s invite today (2/14) - it was postmarked 2/12. We are in So. Cal. Of course, all the receptions are now full :frowning:

@collegemom111111 Two years ago Regents came in the mail on Feb 25 for our son. Similar timeframe a couple years before that too.

Are invites supposed to be rolling then?

DS got the Chancellor’s invite early last week. 1570 SAT, 4.3 capped UC GPA, 4.7 uncapped, NMF, AP Scholar with Distinction, hospital volunteer, debate team, founder of couple of STEM and diversity clubs, no major awards. Also accepted to UCB last week with invites to Regents and Chancellor’s scholarship. CS major at both UCs.

D19 got the Chancellor’s invite today so I guess they must be rolling. And yep, the event is full already. Oh well.

Just received a packet in the mail today (I live in SoCal) announcing that I’ve been selected as a UCSB Regents scholar! I received the chancellors invite last week. Definitely excited!

@RedHiker that’s incredible! congrats!! did anyone else receive one??
