UCSB CS undergrad stats needed?

hi,

i am going to be a senior next year and i want to know what stats that people have gotten to get into UCSB for CS. I know they have stats online but those seem kinda off/ lower since they are in general and i feel like stats for a CS major would be higher than stats needed for a sociology major, etc. can some people who got into undergrad UCSB for cs let me know what their stats were or a range of stats that i should be in to have a good chance at getting admitted.

thanks

UCSB like the majority of UC’s do not list specific GPA and test scores by major. You can check out this year’s decision thread once acceptances have posted and search for CS by using the magnifying glass at the top right corner of the thread, type in CS or Computer Science and it will search for your keyword.

You can assume that CS majors will require higher than average stats so the Average UC Capped weighted GPA for UCSB 2018 was 4.13, Average SAT was around a 1390 and Average ACT was 31.

Although Stats are Very important in the UC application review, your essays, EC’s and HS course rigor will factor into the decision also.

Make sure you apply widely and have 2 safety (likely) schools on your list.

The College of Engineering admits by major. They provide the ranges and averages for gpa & SAT although the latest data is a year old (assume it has gotten harder). For example the bottom 25th percentile math SAT for the CS kids that just graduated in 2018 is 90 points lower than the frosh admitted last year!

You can find the info for engineering at http://bap.ucsb.edu/institutional.research/planning.data.book/tables/academic.unit.engr.pdf

For CS the info is at

Your suspicions are right, the averages are higher than for Letters and Science. And as pointed out by @Gumbymom admission is not done just by stats, they look at other factors.
