UC Davis is a reach for a 1680.
UCSB, although a lot of websites show high 1860-1950 for the SAT, it really isn’t. I would say it’s more like 1730-1850. Work hard and try and get your score to a 1800’s and you have a great shot. The EASIEST way to increase your score is simply by improving your essay. This means preparing a good list of facts about historic figures/events and also preparing some “sentence starters”, which are pretty much plug-in phrases that you can use in the beginning of paragraphs/topic sentences. I raised my score by 100 points by just improving my essay. Also, consider raising your ACT, which may be easier because your ACT is, in my opinion, “higher” than your SAT score. You would need to raise your ACT score by about 2 points which is doable. The great thing about the ACT is that if you do good on two sections and poorly on the others, it’s averaged. So if you think it about it this way, all you need to do is aim for at least two high scoring sections (which the easiest for most people would be reading and english.)
