UCSB ECON Help

I plan on transferring to UCSB for Fall 2013.
I'm an Econ Major.
I'm currently in Stats right now and I'm taking English 101 or 1A so I'm good there and i plan to take the second english transferable during Fall of 2012.
I was wondering do I only have to go up to calculus 1 ? And would it look bad if I take it my last semester? I saw a lot of posts about taking the transfer math late..and being denied..so any help would be appreciated.

For UCSB Econ you have to take two semester of Calculus so you have to take calculus 2 or however the course is titled at your school. I think if you can you should try and take it before the spring you are planning to transfer. One other thing is that if you get accepted to UCSB econ it will be as pre major which means you have to take ECON 10A at UCSB and get a B or higher in that course to declare the major.

Completing your English and Math classes are important transferring to any UC. Seems like youre on a good track with your English classes. As for Math, I highly suggest that you complete Calc 2 before you transfer. What math level are you in right now? Econ at UCSB wants you to rack up as many pre-reqs as you can before transferring. It also give you a better chance of getting accepted as well. Lastly, if you plan to TAG, you are required to finish calc 1 and 2 to fulfill the contract agreement!
Goodluck at PCC for another year :D

I’m in stats 50.
I couldn’t get Math 7a or trig because they were full but i plan on doing it in the summer and from there I would take math till my last semester. So basically…
7A SUMMER
7B FALL
Calc Winter
Calc 2 Spring and if anything I’ll do math path which allows me to take two math course in one semester and I do plan on tagging i will have 30 units by the end of summer with a 3.3 gpa
Any other advice?

I plan on applying to SB this fall as an econ&accounting major! Just make sure to finish your math sequence by the end of the spring before you transfer and to keep that GPA up. Good luck!

@PCCLancer11, sounds like a great plan. Do try to get into 7A in the Summer though and keep your GPA above 3.2. Then it should be fine for the TAG agreement. Have you taken Accounting 1A and 1B? If you haven’t, my best advice for you is to avoid Dr. Woods for 1A.

No I’m just applying as an Econ Major, but some schools require accounting 1a so i might take that and okay thanks. I unfortunately picked McLean for Econ 1a in the winter with my english class. Not a good choice haha

Yeah, McLean is probably the hardest Econ Professor at PCC. I heard not many students get A in his class. Must be a crazy semester for you since it was shorter, and you were taking English as well.

Actually, you have two options for completing the pre-major requirements for Econ at UCSB.

1) Complete TWO calculus courses

or

2) Complete ONE calculus course and ONE statistics course.

You should also complete Micro & Macro Econ, of course.

Do you think if I go with the second option it would be looked down upon as opposed to the first option?

^^Either or is fine.

I was accepted to UCSB for Econ Fall 2012. I am currently taking Calculus for business and economics (Not Calc 1A, but rather Calculus for social sciences), as well as MacroEcon. I have already taken MicroEcon and Poli/Econ, along with statistics and all the other IGETC requirements.

Best of luck transferring!

Goodjob
What was your gpa of I may ask?
Thanks!
