@HeideggerNSartre Yes for UCSB/UCI, maybe for Berkeley IMO.
@goldencub Ehh, don’t know about UC Irvine. They don’t accept AP tests for Pre-Reqs and I’m not as prepared for their prerequisite pattern as I am for both UCSB and UC Berkeley.
At least that’s not the school I’m really hoping to get into, haha
Guys, I had a a 2.80…something before Fall 2015, and I tagged UCSB because I took 5 classes and pushed myself to get straight A’s, which will raise my GPA to a 3.23. I did get the A’s, and that is now my current GPA. The minimum for their tag is a 3.20, does that mean I made the cut? I know I have to maintain the GPA so I’m working hard towards getting those A’s again. I think I meet all the other requirements that they have, but I’m freaking out and I want to hear from them already. I’m a psychology major btw
If I’m not mistaken at the time of TAG you’re supposed to already have a 3.2. Maybe I’m wrong…
@bobaloverr I’m pretty sure @Countchocula25 is right. You’re sure your TAG application was approved back in September, right?
@bobaloverr Under the conditions of the guarantee, #7 states you must
“Meet the following GPA requirements: Earn an overall minimum 3.20 GPA in all UC-transferable coursework by the END OF FALL 2015 AND maintain a minimum overall 3.20 GPA through the end of spring 2016”
Have you spoken with a counselor to clarify this for you? The language leads me to believe that not all hope is lost for you but if you’re dying to know I would definitely speak to a counselor at your current college or maybe even call/email a UCSB rep. Best of luck!

@annabananna I think you are right. They do underline to show emphasis of the END OF FALL 2015
Here goes!
Major: Political Science
UC-Transferable GPA: 3.3
TAG: Yes, to UCSB.
IGETC: Complete after this fall
Prereq’s: All but ‘Intro to Research in POLS’, which I believe must be done at UCSB
EC’s: Work near full time and have plenty of hours volunteering at the same place since I was 15.
GPA is not impressive at all but I’m hoping that TAG will come through. Any Poli sci majors out there?
@Countchocula25 I guess UCSB is notoriously vague concerning TAG though
@Countchocula25 @annabananna i talked to a transfer counselor from ucsb, and yes, fall 2015 counts too! so technically, yes i’m good because i met it, but until i hear from them, i’m going to be anxious to hear from them.
@annabannana I’m a Political Science major too!
I’m not very confident about my chances of acceptance either. I tagged Davis, so I’m not expecting to be admitted, although I would love to go to SB if given the chance (:
Major: Pre-Political Science
GPA: 3.4
TAG: Davis
IGETC: Finished
Pre-Reqs: All except for Microecon…definitely shot myself in the leg there
ECs: Misc volunteer work
@CATransfer2016 Even though they say it’s not necessary, I really believe having IGETC done makes you a more desirable applicant. Your stats look good! I’m guessing Davis is your top choice? I have some friends there and they love it.
@bobaloverr Waiting is the worst! Even though I met all of their requirements I still feel super paranoid that they’ll reject it. I’m glad you confirmed that with your counselor though! I guess we’ll all find out in March-April.
@annabannana Thank you! I kept going back and forth between Davis and SB and at the time I submitted my TAG I had Davis as my top choice. I really regret not taking microeconomics so I would have all of my pre-reqs completed though. Everyone at Davis seems to be so happy but whenever I’ve gone to visit, there doesn’t seem to be much going on. The current and past Davis students I know all loved their experience, but my Santa Barbara friends seem to be having more fun haha. Fun is subjective though and I believe an experience is definitely what you make it, but you can’t beat that beautiful campus… Is SB your top choice? if I may ask, where else did you apply? I really hope you get accepted!!
@CATransfer2016 Are you currently taking Micro? I heard that SB doesn’t require it for admission but you need it to get into the major. I’ve never gone up to Davis but I imagine the vibe is totally different. Santa Barbara is definitely an awesome place to live. I actually grew up in SB County and while I can’t speak for the school I can say the area is an awesome place to be. SB is my top choice. I applied to Irvine, UCB, and UCLA (just for funsies, there’s no way I’ll get in) and Cal Poly SLO, which I just got accepted to as of yesterday. Where else did you apply to? And likewise, I hope you get in so you have choices!
Don’t go to Irvine. I grew up in Irvine and that city is SOOOOOO lame.
@annabannana My school is on the semester system but I have the chance to add it on as a “late-start” course next month. That’s good to know about the requirement, thanks! I also applied to UCB, UCLA, (for the same reason as you haha), and UCSC as a safety. Congratulations on getting into SLO! Waiting to hear back from the UCs is slowly killing me
UCI has a nice campus, and the city has great weather - and it is right next to Newport Beach. I prefer Irvine over SB, honestly. >:D<
I’d take Sb over Irvine because of the social scene at Sb. Irvine is totally a commuter college. nothing happens there. I guess it’s just your preference of what you want out of college.
@CATransfer2016 Huh, I find it interesting that you’ve finished everything except Microecon. Which school do you go to that offers “Introduction to Political Research”? That’s the only major pre-req I won’t have by the end of Spring.
