@anthonysilva CSUN and SJSU are both good schools, try not to be upset, and be proud of what you’ve accomplished thus far. You still have several left to hear back from, so don’t lose confidence. I know this is off-topic, but I think I’ve heard that UCs prefer you to be done with IGETC. Not sure if that’s true, but I’d look into it if I were you. You seem to be a pretty good applicant to me. Good luck.
Sorry I forgot to mention this. Decision: Accepted

I have such a low GPA so I’m stoked about this!
Also, my cousin who got into Berkeley and UCLA as an English transfer two years ago didn’t get into UCSB but she didn’t have all the pre-reqs done so I think it’s always super important to make sure you finish those!

Taking 21 units this semester… feeling optimistic to get a 4.0
Should bump GPA to 3.64
I’m 25, and when I went to college straight out of High school I got a semester of bad grades and never went back, however I have an upward scale of good grades since returning 5 years later.
I am a single mother, I work, I attend school full time and I played soccer for the college team.
My personal insight questions were based on overcoming struggles from low income family, first generation college student, student athlete and being a single mother.

Some word of advice for incoming students.
Living in off-campus apartments will be your best bet at making long-term friends at ucsb. The opportunity is always available to make friends outside of the apartments, but a strong friend group is formed from within them. I decided to live off campus in a house with random people. And although the experience hasn’t been horrible it comes down to my roommates graduating this year when I have another year left. Fortunately, I have an alternate friend group to live with next year.
Financial aid will take time to post. I would say a few weeks if not a month or so. If you currently have medi-cal you will be able to waive the UC health care plan and save money for food and other expenses. Good luck!

I had been wanting to make an account for a few weeks since I’m transferring, but I felt kind of demoralized after I got rejected from SDSU (San Diego area, 4.0, Golden Four and major prereqs all completed) and thought for sure that it meant that I wouldn’t get in to UCSB, so I was honestly shocked (in a good way of course) to see that I was admitted! Congrats to everyone else who was accepted!
