this is so stressful… I committed to UCSC however UCSB is my top and I cant make any major decisions for UCSC because if i get into UCSB then there would be no point…also gotten waitlisted at UC Davis and I havent heard back either… So done
i think UCSB might be waiting on people who got off higher tire of UC school’s waitlist to clear out more spots, so they can give the opening to waitlisted students. It might be a good thing to wait. UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD and UCI have already started to admit students off waitlist.
@BIgChina987 stop stressing and come to UCR with us. I’m originally from China too gonna need an Asian foodie friend anyways
@siarota hhahaha no way what province? Im from CHONGQING
How long does it take for the school to process the appeal?
@Scorpio112 here’s a bunch of info http://admissions.sa.ucsb.edu/applying/appeal-process
@BIgChina987 I’m from Jiangsu
Maybe we will hear from them tomorrow since tomorrow/tonight at midnight is the SIR deadline for the first wave of acceptances
Anyone hear anything??
nope not a thing
@BIgChina987 same ughhhhhh lol
No update
Even we can be admitted, can we apply for housing?
Has anyone that has been accepted off the waitlist been able to apply for housing yet?
This is on the waitlist faq
Even though I haven’t been admitted, am I still guaranteed housing?
Yes. UCSB guarantees university housing when all deadlines are met. If you are admitted from the waitlist and you return your SIR by the stated deadline, you will receive more information from UCSB Housing, Dining and Auxiliary Enterprises. Please wait 24 hours from the time you submit your SIR to submit your Housing contract.
Wow, I SIRd UCR and I don’t have housing. Jesus, good thing I haven’t withdrawn my UCSB application. Still pending the waitlist. Anyone know if I’m still eligible for UCSB?
@College4Fun you are even if your SIRed somewhere else
@College4Fun I’m seriously considering commit to UCR as well because after serious consideration I find UCR to work in my favor more
UCR
Pros:
got accepted into the major I want, neuroscience BS, which mean is easier to get recommendation letters.
Cheap living expense
Easier to get higher GPA
Has its own med school and has great linkage program for UCR premed students
Relatively closer to home (San Diego)
Easier to get research experience
Cons:
Low ranking
Riverside is kinda ghetto
Weather is very hot there
Low employment rate which mean it can be hard to find part time job
UCSB
Pros:
Beautiful campus
Beautiful weather
Beautiful people
More opportunity for jobs
High ranking
Cons:
Will be admitted as premajor, which mean chances are I won’t be accepted into the major I want
They don’t offer neuroscience, closest major is Biopsychology which I applied, but is under psychology division.
Harder to get recommendation letters for med school because med school need it from STEM professors
Harder to get higher gpa
VERY EXPENSIVE TO LIVE THERE OFF CAMPUS (can’t live on campus for personal reason)
What do you guys think?
I got accepted!!! So happy
@ctehin congratulations! Mine’s still pending…
