@siarota Thank you!! Don’t lose hope I was definitely stressing and thought I would be rejected but I think there’s still a good chance!
congrats!! what was your GPA again?
@BIgChina987 thank you! 3.57 overall, 3.7 major gpa for comm
@ctehin congrats!! @lii0909 and @Scigirl32 The housing process has been weird for me and a few others. All the housing deadlines were before I was admitted so I’m supposed to add myself to a waitlist, which I’m pretty sure isn’t even up yet. So I’m a little worried about that but the last person I talked to from housing made it sound like I’d most likely get off the waitlist and not to worry.
My appeal arrived today and I was admitted hours later for Comm… good luck to everyone, don’t lose hope !
@Transfer01x Did you appeal on rejection or were you waitlisted?
I was waitlisted, but I waited until my semester ended to send my transcripts as proof of improvement.
look like today is for comm major Congrat!!
Got accepted off the waitlist yesterday at 4:45pm! Of
Course I also panicked and sent in an appeal yesterday as well. Art history and architecture major, 3.2 GPA
Has any econ majors heard anything?
@siarota Academic wise, although UCR is not ranked as high as UCSB, I still like to think UC classes in general are not to different in subject material/rigor from campus to campus. If you can generally get the same course descriptions, real world applications/research, letters of rec and a few series (A-B-C) of graduate courses under your belt, you should be a good candidate.
Of courses there are a few major exceptions like Berkeley’s math department or UCSD biotech. But you can take courses at these colleges during the summer or after you graduate. Still I’ll admit it’s still says something to go through the specific campus’s program.
As for the weather, I’m seriously considering living in LA and commuting to UCR on the MetroLink everyday. It’s a 90 min ride from Union Station to UCR/Hunter Park, but thats just hw and breakfast time really if you can grab one of the tables in the top.
Also, weirdly, as I SIRd UCR, I was considered a Freshman for registration purposes with a expected graduation date of 2022. I think I might have 4 years. If all of them are funded, it’s a no brainer for me anymore. I’m going to find out next week. But, as housing waitlist and my financial aid even is still pending, I’m waiting on UCSB just in case. I’d rather have their guarantee at this point.
Btw, I’m transferring from southwestern college…I see you’re in San Diego…
I’m still pending UCSB btw. I think someone mentioned the next SIR deadline is the 20th. That’s Wednesday next week. I have a good feeling about next Thursday the 21st, then of course the last Thursday-Friday the 28th-29th.
@College4Fun thank you for your advice. I feel like the smart choice would be UCR, they even deferred my SIR fee and waived my HS transcript. The only thing that could stop me is the financial aid. On my unofficial financial aid reward, UCSB offers me 36k (loan included), that’s pretty nice, but I haven’t been able to see how much UCR can offer me. If UCR can match the offer i might just commit to UCR.
Admitted off the waitlist at 3:45pm yesterday for PoliSci! The wait is finally over haha
they are moving towards the letter and science department now it seems like.
@BlueThunderKing Congrats! What was your GPA? I picked poli-sci as my 2nd choice major.
@College4Fun thank you! My overall gpa was 3.3
Have any bio/chem related majors heard??
I got admitted for sociology 2 days ago. Question before i sir it had requirement of 3.0 but sadly i slacked off and got a C this semester which will bring me to a 2.9. (Didn’t think I’d get off the waitlist was settling for ucr) will this not allow me to get in now???
Any know how strict they are regarding that requirement?
