I applied to UCSB as a transfer student. Major is communications. I have a very different circumstance right now. I attended SJSU but got kicked out/dismissed in Spring 2017. In Fall of 2017, I decided to give myself another chance on my education even though what happened to me is so hard to face. Now, I am at community college (its my last semester), and I’m hoping to transfer to UCSB in Fall of 2019. Does anyone know when admissions decisions come out??
UCSB transfer decisions started posting last year on March 20th. The UC’s should be updating their decision timelines within the next month.
Fellow comm major currently at UCSB. Just want to help you and anyone else out. Before you get here look into taking as my prerequisite comm classes as you can. Not sure if you know but you have to meet a 3.0 gpa minimum in pre major courses to get in the major. UCSB’s way of weeding people out. Don’t make the same mistake as others, the pre major comm courses are really demanding avoid them and look into the different class you can take at cc so you don’t have to take them here.
Hi @Transfer01x, thanks for your help. I think I’ll have a cumulative GPA of 2.91 because I have a 1.0 at SJSU and a 3.75 at my community college. With these GPA’s combined, it wont be a 3.0. I’m really worried I am trying the best I can to come to UCSB or any other UC. I explained in my application that I got kicked out of SJSU and I am at community college. Please give me another chance. I have been stressing out for the past 2 years to bring my cumulative combined GPA up. At least I have a 3.75 at my community college if UCSB will look at it that way that I improved at community college…
@Transfer01x I just wanted to ask what do you think of my stats? My community college GPA is 3.75, but my SJSU GPA is 1.0. SJSU+my community college combined GPA= 2.98. Yeah, not a 3.0, I tried my best to bring it to a 3.0 but I couldn’t. I know I did pretty bad at SJSU and I hope that does not define me as a bad student.
