UCSB Housing Hall Decision

How would everybody rank the halls at UCSB? I have to turn in my housing app soon, and I want to make sure my list is good. give me all the info you got, thanks everybody. so far, the list goes...

1) Anacapa
2) Santa Cruz
3) Santa Rosa/San Nicolas (can't decide)
4) Santa Rosa/San Nicolas
5) San Miguel
6) Manzanita
7) FT (only because of the distance...)

Keep in mind i'm not a huge partier, but i'm a very social person.

I hear Manzanita is nice.

Anacapa is the residence hall that Jack Johnson lived in for a while, during his stay at UCSB.

Just a random fact.

hate to be naive...but who's jack johnson?

http://www.jackjohnsonmusic.com/

hey i want to live in a suite, that sounds pretty kick ass, do they have suites that can house freshmen?

francisco torrest is SORT of a suite, because you share a bathroom with people next door and the rooms are bigger

what about like.. a 6 bedroom suite in the middle lounge area?

but of that list, does anybody have any suggestions about which one is better/worse?

not sure if you looked here but it has all the floor plans and it even has the map of the campus.

all the halls are listed on the right.

i am most def not feeling that bunk bed thing....

http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/hchoices/reshalls-ftorres.htm

ya im paranoid about those things, i hate those damn bunk beds...is anyone going to the open house?

Bunk beds...we'll it's really up to you and your roomie if you want your bed stack on top of the other. Me and my old roomie didn't do that lastyear. You can arrange your beds anyway you like. The size is twin bed and it's pretty long and comfy...you'll be fine.

im talking about this

http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/hchoices/hchoices-images/san-nicolas-dbl.jpg

i dont think you can unstack that becuase the floor plans dont really allow for the seperation of the two.

anacapa for sure

(i live there. haha. i love it)

this is my list

anacapa

santa cruz

santa rosa

francisco torres

san nicholas

san miguel

manzanita village

why FT before san miguel and nicolas? you know FT is like a mile away right? and manzanita is way closer than FT.

i heard FT always forms a tight community since they are so far from everyone else. and that manzanita usually has the worst community for freshman.

i looked san miguel, it is oldest and it doesn't smell too good...last choice for mine, I heard anacapa from my friend in UCSB, he lvied there before, he said because 20+ people share a big bathroom, people get drunk all the time at the weekend and puke all over the place...

if i bring a car in the fall, would FT move up the list?

yes, because FT is the only dorm that has enough parking spaces.

My sister lived in Anacapa. She recommended Anacapa, Santa Cruz, and Manzanita to me. The nickname students give San Miguel is "San Mighetto" and also to stay away from Francisco Torres since it's so far from the campus.

do u guys think it is a good idea to bring a car?
