For those transfers who have been accepted into UCSB already and plan on going there. Have any of you chose or have an idea where you want to live? I thought I would choose davis of Santa Barbara but after today's visit I will definitely be attending ucsb during fall! I know this is early but I just want to have an idea of what others are going to be doing!

I haven’t been accepted, but I do know where I want to live in the event I get in (which I will :). I’m going to get a studio in Isla Vista. They can get expensive (1500 a month, 1100 to share in Icon buildings, total rip off), but you can also find ones for closer to 900-1000 a month. Even with a balcony, although I don’t know what the inside looks like. I’m going for a trip over spring break to see what I’m working with.

@sega18 that sounds awesome! That’s something I wanna do as well but most likely won’t be able to because I can’t afford it lol

I’m hoping to move into a one bedroom close to campus with my gf any ideas for affordable housing? Or do you think we should find a place and get roommates? Or university apartments?

I personally was going to move into the university residence halls just to network and get to know people before I plan to move in with them. The housing is actually pretty nice and people really get involved with one another

I was just looking at their housing website. Some of the cheapest apartments go for about $600 but they’re two bedrooms split between 4 people. These were the Santa Ynez apartments, I believe.

I would probably prefer something like their El Dorado apartments which have one bedroom for two people and go for about $766/month with a 9 month contract (according to their website). I’d just have to pray that my roommate is a chill person.

Idk know exactly how far it is from the actual campus, but I hope it’s not too far because I hear it gets pretty sketchy at night.

If the residential halls my favorite are over at Manzanita village. They’re pretty expensive though :/

Btw, sorry if this is hard to understand. I’m typing this post from my phone.

@blue4two - For Santa Ynez or El Dorado would you pay the university directly because they are University owned or would you pay a landlord?

Also would you pay monthly on the date you move in or …?

Ex: Move in September 22nd, your rent is due every 22nd.

Hmm that’s a good question. Well since the apartment info is on their housing website I would assume you’d pay the university, but don’t quote me on that.

Yeah I’m just curious about that, would you think the university apartments would be better than the other apartments in the area?

I have been admitted and hope to live in one of the residence halls.

If that’s not an option, my preferences go : el dorado, santa ynez, westwinds/ westgate.
My attitude is the more people I meet the better. The residence halls seems like it would be the best for that. Hopefully I meet some chill people that I can move into IV with the following year.

Aren’t the residence halls 70% freshman and 29% sophomores? Lol

That’s what a friend who goes to UCSB said.

@mat4200 San Raphael And manzanita village are both for upperclassman and transfers. So I mean you don’t really get mixed in with freshman if you choose residence halls.

Is San Clemente Villages strictly just for graduates?
