I got admitted to UCSB for the fall of 2017, but I did not finish the lab science for my IGETC; I thought that an AP class from high school counted as the lab. Science isn’t necessarily relevant to my major, but on my application I said that I would have finished my IGETC by this spring. Am I in danger of getting rescinded for this?
I think you’ll be fine but you should email your admissions. If you TAG’d UCSB, were a borderline applicant, and this class was your science requirement for TAG then you might be in trouble.
thank you so much for the advice!
Bold is in the original, BTW
You listed the AP class as an AP class and not as a CC class, right? So they know your academic record and you should not be at risk of failing to meet admission requirements (like, say, missing a required science class).
It sounds like you now fall under the partial IGETC category. See http://www.duels.ucsb.edu/advising/planning/igetc which just means you have to take the missing classes at ucsb, you will not be rescinded.
IGETC doesn’t need to be completed for TAG but there are math science and English requirements to complete and depending on major, major prep classes.
