UCSB Official Financial Aid Thread

Ok my aid status now displays the message "“Your initial 2009-2010 FAFSA was received by the federal processor on 2/27/2009,” but there still isn’t any information on aid. Did yours update soon after this?

yeah just wait a bit

when do we apply for loans?

when you get your official fin aid letter, it’ll ask you if you want any loans. that’s when you choose to accept the loans offered in the letter.

i still can’t see my unofficial award letter. (I’m a transfer if that makes any difference.) All I see is this:

"Your initial 2009-2010 FAFSA was received by the federal processor on 1/13/2009.

If you are admitted to UCSB, the Financial Aid Office will determine your unofficial financial aid eligibility and post it on this web site. Unofficial financial aid eligibility and other basic financial aid information will be posted beginning in early April. This eligibility will be based solely on the information you provided on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). We will send you an e-mail when the Unofficial Award Letter is available for you to view. If you make changes to your FAFSA data after your Unofficial Award Letter is posted, we will not recalculate your eligibility and update your Unofficial Award Letter."

Anyone else see something like this. I think I’m gonna call them tomorrow or something D:

This is really frustrating. My aid letter still hasn’t updated, and that information is kinda important. I don’t even want to bother calling them, since they’ll just tell me to wait it out. Anyone else above with issues have any luck?

^ call them, they are really nice and helpful in the FA office.

Does anyone know when the UCSB Summer Financial Aid Online Application will be available? It was suppose to be today 4/13, but I couldn’t find it. :(

^Do we have to do something else in addition to last, last year’s FAFSA for FSSP?

There is a separate form you have to fill out but they have not uploaded the application yet. :frowning: They were suppose to have done so yesterday. :(

That’s odd. What’s the link?

The UCSB Summer Session Financial Aid Application is up. :)

Click on the middle picture at the top. :)

https://www.finaid.ucsb.edu/index.asp

Thanks for the link!

So I went there…and pressed continue and got this:

"Message:
Your summer aid application cannot be processed because you are not a UCSB student. If you were admitted for the Fall 2009 quarter, you must submit your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) before your summer aid can be processed. "

I have already submitted my SIR and everything…what’s the deal?

Yeah, you are very much welcomed. :)

Hmmm, how long ago did you submitted your SIR? :)

Also, I will be taking questions related to UCSB financial aid, so if anyone has any questions, then just post here and I will answer them myself. :)

If I don’t know the answer to a specific financial question, then I will ask the financial aid office myself. :)

Some questions I have so far are as follows:

Regarding UCSB Summer Session Financial Aid, will we get billed back if we say we take 14 units in the Summer but then decide to take 10 units only?

*We pay the same whether we take 10 units or more than 10 units due to the 10-unit fee cap rule.

What will be the level of financial aid a fifth-year student will receive compared to a fourth-year student assuming EFC remains a constant 0 throughout 5 years?

If anyone else have any other questions, then just post here on this thread and I will get back to them. :)

Also WCF, if you have any other questions regarding financial aid, then post here in this thread to let me know. :)

I didn’t update the other thread because I saw that pretty much all of your financial aid questions were answered by arayrob. :)

"
Hmmm, how long ago did you submitted your SIR?"

A while ago…maybe 2-3 weeks?

I already got a thing in the mail that said that they got it and it’s processed and everything.

Argh.

Do you plan on taking FSSP? :)

Do you know the deadline for FSSP? :)

Last year it was like June or so but I can’t remember. :)

Anyways, I ended up going to community college instead because loans were included in my Summer Session UCSB Financial Aid Package and I didn’t want to take out loans right away. :(

I’m still waiting to see what this year’s Summer Session UCSB Financial Aid Package will be like before I make my decision. :)

Yes, I’m planning on doing FSSP. The deadlines are on the website and I still have time, but I don’t know what this deal is with my SIR.

AH!!! It’s working now.

happy dance

It’s asking how many units I’m going to take…

What if I don’t know?
