UCSB OR ANY UC's?

HELLO I am currently a student at moorpark college.....I have completed 60 units till now...with 2.78 GPA....What r my chances of getting into UCSB or any UC''s with this GPA? please help me out..thank you

Try posting this in the transfer forum or in the UC forum. You might get more knowledgeable posters there.

i dont think your chances are too good however its definitely not hopeless
write a good essay and work on your extra-curriculars

You should be able to get into Riverside or Merced, and possibly Santa Cruz. Have you looked at ANY CSUs?

It looks like UCSB requires at least a 2.4 for California residents. If you're not a California resident you are out of luck as you must have a 2.8 for consideration:

Yeah for ucsb, youre going to need to raise your GPA for a better chance. I would work your butt off for the next 2 quarters (or 1 semester) because ucsb is soo awesome.

I AM IN THE SAME BOAT...

my gpa is a little higher but sub 3.0 after getting a D

IF I am retaking the class (and no matter what my gpa will go up) does anyone know if I HAVE a chance? I am scared because I did not get a 'C' or higher so idk if that will ruin my chances. Counselors have told me that when they see that I am retaking it itll be okay...but.. idk bout them..

oh and I just filled a tag for fall 09

"kevin4321" did you do a TAG??

Re-take that D ASAP. You should have tried to re-take it by this semester. What would your GPA be if that D turned into, say, an A or a B?

Just apply, you'll get into Riverside or Merced.

it would be atleast 3.1 . i am retaking it currently.. I rather go to a CSU than go to those UCs^ no offense it just isn't worth it to me since i live in the valley

If you can get up to a 3.1 you will have a decent shot at UCSB... try and look up their transfer rates and average GPAs. What major are you applying for?

Yep, unless we know your major, we can't really "chance you" as they say.

I was actually considering Riverside, if only to try for one of their 24 guaranteed spots into UCLA Med School.

However, I wasn't accepted (you wouldn't believe how funny that was to me).

<-- 3.8, all pre-req's done except for o-chem (not offered)

Was it because of your missing o-chem?

could be.

I got accepted at SD, SB, and SC. Davis screwed up my app, and upon correcting them, sent me an admit package. I took a picture of my reaction upon receiving it:

I keep a copy of it on my phone just incase I ever forget.

Come to think of it, Riverside might have screwed up the app too... oh well, its not like I wanted to go there anyway.

i see i see
I am a psych major...
(but social ecology at irvine ...)

requirements to get in for psych are 2.7 pretty much everywhere

"anchor" ... UC San Diego is going to get you high chances of getting in to med school any ways right?? Plus its UCSD! so you are saying it wasn't your first choice??

Pretty much, UCSD was actually my second choice. First was Davis. You can see how that worked out... (LA and Berk were last on my list)

It doesn't help that i tend to hold a grudge.

Yep, assuming everything goes well at SD, I should be able to get into a very good med school. Probably not John Hopkins, or Ivy league, but definitely something in California.

Why were LA and Berkeley last?

I don't like a good majority of the folk that attend.

Bunch of overachieving bookworms if you ask me.

I remember there was a girl in my lower division bio courses that upon overhearing that someone had just been admitted to SD, she makes the comment that "it's only news if you've been admitted to LA or Berkeley, the ones that count".

Yeah, here's hoping she dies of some incurable venereal disease.

wow, hahaha. I see your point.

I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TO UC DAVIS, UC SB, UCSC, UC IRVINE and I’m STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM UCLA< USC …yeEEYYYYY…I CANT BELIEVE I GOT INTO DAVIS wiTh 3.2 GPA…
