I've been accepted to UCSB as a Computer Science major but I've been having the dilemma of choosing between that or going to my local CCC and transferring to a higher UC such as UCSD or UCLA. What do you guys think?

What’s your educational goal? You do realize UCSB is a GREAT school, right??
I’d say you only get to be a Freshman in college ONCE and I’d also say, if you’re happy there then go to UCSB. Obviously outweighing the financial aspects as well but like I said- you are only a Freshman once! You can also transfer to UCLA from UCSB in 2 years if you find it necessary…

Thank you! I pretty much just want to get my bachelors at the moment until I work and start on my graduate in the future. I understand that UCSB is a great school but I was just wondering if it was worth it to go to a CCC and transfer to an even more prestigous school?

UCSD is ranked 35th by USNews, UCSB is ranked 39th, there is no difference.

Don’t. There is no guarantee that you will get in UCSD, UCLA, or UCB if you attend CCC because education is on the chopping block and as a transfer student, your admission to a UC is dependent on the financial situation of all 3 of California’s higher education systems since a cut to either the UC’s, CSU’s, or CCC’s will dramatically reduce your admissions chances as current transfer students have seen over the last 2 years. In addition to the absence of a guarantee of transferring to a higher ranked school, you have the problem in that whichever CCC you pick is going to have it’s own transfer quarks which will result in you taking more classes than necessary, being unable to take some of the required classes, and being forced to complete the GE requirements before you can even start upper division classes. These factors when combined result in a delay of a semester or more to your graduation.

Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it. But that is your call, ya know?

Alright then! I guess UCSB it is! Thank you so much to both of you for your contribution

I’ll be at UCSB as a Junior transfer in Fall too :)

Congrats on your acceptance, btw!
