Hello.

I'm still trying to decide between NYU and UCSB for computer science.
UCSB's program is better ranked, but based on my research, the future of NYU Poly School of Engineering seems pretty promising as well.

Costs are not really the issue, so any insights would be appreciated!

I was also waitlisted to UIUC,UCSD, and Purdue, so I don't know what would happen though.

Essentially: would you rather live in a city or a college town? could you rather work on the East Coast or in California (not that attending one college will preclude your working on the other coast, but it’ll be more likely).

Yes, that’s one thing I’d have to think about.

But how is the quality of each program?
I’m leaning towards NYU to get more internship opportunities, but I also heard SB’s engineering program is pretty top-notch (at least among the UCs).

My cousin does CS at SBCC and works with UCSB professors on implementing various research projects. He turned down several excellent job offers to finish his studies at a UC. Going to UCSB for CS will not hinder your career.

Thank you for the reply!

What have you read regarding NYU Poly’s future? I’m in a similar situation… I am deciding between UCSD and NYU for Mechanical Engineering.

Well, now that Poly and NYU have completely merged, I heard NYU’s planning to invest a lot in bringing Poly’s reputation closer to other top engineering schools’. Poly also ranks top 10 in Payscale.com, so I guess its reputation is pretty good among employers too.
