<p>ucla is the more prestigious program. However you need to decide which you'd like to attend, and IMHO this overshadows reputation. The 2 schools are quite different, and most people find they prefer one or the other. If your other choices fall thru and you're down to this school, you want it to be one you like! And I should add that for most people ucla is not a safety ...</p>
<p>Im not applying to them as safeties, just as a school that id attend if I decided i didn't want to go somewhere else. The probability of me attending a UC is low since they rape you on oos tuition.</p>

<p>UCSB.....I've visited both campuses, and UCSB's is amazing and way better than UCLA.</p>

<p>dang i just realized i need to take sat subject tests. nvm UC then. I've already applied to Cal Poly SLO and USC. what are some other non-uc schools in CA that are nice?</p>
