<p>well the time has come to decide
i have visited both campuses and loved them both, each in their own way. both are beautiful and unique. Both have strong academic reps, although from my tours i gathered that ucsc is a little better academically. (When replying to this please don't quote national magazine rankings because i could care less about what they perceive as the best) UCSC also has a better study-abroad program, which i am definietely looking into. In pretty much all aspects save one UCSC looked better. The problem at SC was the people. In my 2 hour tour i criss-crossed the campus and saw a lot of students. All of them looked, in my opinion, alternative. Now i am a kid who likes to have fun, and partied extensively in high school. Im good a meeting new people and talking to them. I am sure if i talked to half the people i saw i would be less freaked out, but i didnt. In this way, SB appeals to me more. I also love the beach-town atmosphere in IV that you just dont quite get in SC.
Another point - i know i will party in college, so SB appeals to me more there. When i toured SB i spent the night there and partied pretty hard. It was an amazing experience that everyone should do at least once. However, i am worried that at SC i will fall into a drug-rehab program for marijuana. I smoke pretty regularly in high school, and i am concerned that at SC thats all everyone does and i will be unable to resist. That's not to say that i wont blaze in SB, but just less extensively.
My last point - i hope everyone is not too offended by this, but i feel that it is a major factor. Being a guy, i am looking to chase some tail in college, just like every other dude (even if they wont admit it). I saw many women at both colleges, and undoubtably the women in SB were far more attractive that in SC. Now im sure that their are hot girls in SC, but it just seemed to me that on average, girls in SB were hotter
Sorry to end it on that note but please lend me your thoughts on what i have written.
I would appreciate all your opinions (girls too) thanks</p>
<p>UCSB and UCSC should have the exactly same studay abroad programs through EAP.</p>
<p>although from my tours i gathered that ucsc is a little better academically.</p>
<p>Ok, I’ll quote from UC’s StatFinder (btw I love UCSC)</p>
<p>Enrolled weighted GPA of students entering Fall 2008
UCSC: 3.54
UCSB: 3.79</p>
<p>Enrolled SAT reasoning score of students entering Fall 2008
UCSC: 1704
UCSB: 1766</p>
<p>*UCSC also has a better study-abroad program, which i am definietely looking into. *</p>
<p>As Grumpster mention, EAP is a UC wide program: [University</a> of California Education Abroad Program](<a href=“http://www.eap.ucop.edu/]University”>http://www.eap.ucop.edu/)</p>
<p>Everything else you mentioned seems to suggest you feel you have a better “fit” at UCSB.</p>
<p>thank you grumpster for pointing that out, i didn’t know that and will include that fact in future arguments with my mom
thnks rc for showing me stats against your favorite college (it takes cojones to do that)</p>
<p>UCSB is generally perceived as a superior school academically. Plus you seem to fit there better.</p>
<p>And yes, definitely has the hot girls.</p>
<p>Haha, well in the interest of full disclosure I am a UCSB student. My brother attended UCSC so I’ve been there many times… it’s academic rep is generally considered to be lower but I’ve always loved the campus… From your descriptions though I think UCSB is a perfect fit for you. But just like with weed, don’t take the boozing too far either, UCSB is not an easy school. You’ll definitely be challenged academically.</p>
