UCSB "Party School" Stigma

Okay. . . so I'm just curious from people who currently go there or plan to go there but have been there enough to know. . . How much of a party school is UCSB honestly? I'm attending in the Fall and I know it's silly, but one of my concerns is that I will have a hard time finding laid back people who don't want to go out and get drunk/high every night. Partying is fun and all, but it's not exactly my "scene."

I knooow that it's probably not really as much of a party school as it's stereotyped to be. . . but hey, share your input. what do you think?

I'm going there too..!! what's ur major?

i think as long as ppl have some kinda selfcontrol, it's gonna be ok. the main reason ppl go there is not for party but study.. that's how i think.

I'm a sophomore at UCSB right now.

It's really not that much of a party school. There are lots of people who don't like to go out partying much (in fact no one actually goes out partying every night) and there are also a lot of smart people. In fact, I found that a lot of people you would normally stereotype as being a "partier" are actually REALLY smart [ie. someone I always saw hanging around and drinking actually had a 4.0 and was a Business Economics major with an internship at an accounting office].

It's a great school and perfect for those who want a classic college experience.
